What was the sci-fi element? Did I miss something? Is Eliot a cyborg?

Spoiler:
There seems to be a possibility for a time travel or parallel universe plot. Why this needed, I have no idea.

The assumption being that the large device inside White Rose's powerplant does something supernatural

And Angela talks about changing the past.

i guess they have shown white rose always being obsessed with time

That seems like some reaching, but hell, idk with this show.

Thought the device was the tunnel of the Large Hadron Collider. Show off to good start imo

it does, and its still too early to think that. just not sure what angela was talking about with saying they could undo everything including the death of their parents

There have been hints at time travel and parallel universes throughout seasons 1 and 2. S3E1 they really brought it to center stage though.

Was conceived as a 5 act movie now stretched out to 5 seasons iirc. Could be wrong though.

I've just been assuming that Angela is almost as bonkers as Eliot.

The Large Hadron Collider is in Switzerland.

It looked like a particle accelerator / collider, though.

It looked similar, but not exactly like it.

Most of the LHC tunnel is pretty boring:

It only gets interesting at the particle detectors:

It's official, main Elliott actor guy bugs me for the same reason Twilight actress bugged me - That horrible permaexpression of dumb disbelief. Can't get over it and show might be unwatchable at this point.

I liked s2 as it happened, but I just binged it to get caught up and it plays much better as a binge.

s3 off to a good start. I am very unsure of Cannavale being in this show. He always over-acts and seems like a cartoon character in the roles he plays, doesn't really seem to fit the mood of this show but we'll see.

Between the scientist's offhand comment at the beginning of the episode and Angela's rant at the end, I assumed Whiterose's project is inter-dimensional travel. I was guessing as much toward the end of last season, but it looks like it's more of a possibility now. I don't think anything will ever actually come of it, more of a theoretical thing that they won't end up achieving.

If you don't want to hurt your brain too much while watching, the "2-Bit Encryption" podcast from Bald Move (Jim and A-Ron) is a good companion piece.

Lots of stuff going on, can't wrap my head around everything tbh. No idea of there is still a possibility that everything makes sense in the end, but I'm still hoping .

Also great music again in this one. And the therapy scene was A+.

I don't know that Tyrell is going to find out.
But wow, that was shocking.
