And about the glass, nice job from the peanut gallery using real life vs. what happened in the actual, you know, show visual effect. Giant shards of glass came crashing down inside the restaurant based on how they did it. Who gives a flying f*** if glass is protected in real life, when you can look at the actual shot and see what it looked like? Hint, a jagged what looked like about 3 foot piece of glass actually fell directly on to Darlene. Next time, actually look at the shot before spouting off the trolling bullsh*t typically found here. Him referencing Trump would be rlly weird if it was a flashback

So we agree then, it's probably not a flashback?
I also thought it was pretty obvious that the thing he wanted done was what White Rose needed to get the bailout from China. And his book's title fits with him trying to clear his name (The Last Honest Man). Finally, the conversation also didn't feel at all like it's a CEO talking to his CTO.

EDIT: Btw you are totally right that it's more likely that a random book from a random CTO would be trending on Amazon rather than a book about a CTO who was employed at the company that just caused the world to grind to a halt and is/was also suspected to have played a part in it. Makes complete sense.

Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

From http://www.usanetwork.com/mrrobot/ep...den-pr0cessaxx

Quote:
Warning: Recap Contains Spoilers

As the finale approaches, Mr. Robot allows our two favorite pairs of star-crossed lovers -- Elliot and Angela, Darlene and Cisco -- to share some tender moments before it all gets shot to hell (literally, figuratively, the whole shebang) at the end…

The Last Honest Man

The episode opens with a flashback of a meeting between Terry Colby, whose book, The Last Honest Man, is about to published, and Phillip Price. Phillip asks his then CTO to pull some strings with an ambassador friend around a UN vote to help pave the way for China to annex the Congo. It may be just an(other) example of Phillip’s unassailable God complex or it could be a clue as to what Phillip and Whiterose have been scheming. Or both.

Joanna and “Ollie”

We don’t quite find out why Joanna called Elliot “Ollie” or how Joanna’s version of Ollie dovetails with the Ollie Parker whom Dom tells Santiago about (more about that below). However, we do learn that Joanna knows that Tyrell and Elliot were working together, that Sutherland messed up his job as it related to Elliot, and that Joanna makes Mr. Robot very, very nervous. When Elliot tells her he doesn’t know where Tyrell is, she coerces him with a sexy whisper into tracing the calls she’s been getting from the burner phone she believes Tyrell sent to her. Mr. Robot tries to warn Elliot away from helping this “psycho” but, you know, Joanna whispered in his ear so how could resist?

Bingo!

Dom gets called to the Smart House while the FBI is there tearing apart the place upon suspicion that Susan Jacobs has gone missing. Agent Yang sent for Dom because she has made a connection between the Smart House and the DC activists who pulled the prank. The activists were found in Maryland two days ago. A car chase ensued and while most of them were apprehended, one got away. A neighbor three doors down from Susan Jacobs’ place spotted someone who is mentioned in Dom’s code name case with another male getting into a cab. The composite she gets from the neighbor winds up looking an awful lot like Cisco, which looks an awful lot like the composite they got from the testimony of Ollie Parker (did Elliot rat out Cisco as Ollie Parker?). But Santiago won’t give her the time to follow up on this fresh lead. He has to abide by the new agency rules, which require him to put out a “BOLO” through the media right away. To make up for it, Santiago tips off Dom that another agent has tracked down the cab driver, which leads Dom to Cisco’s place. There she finds a picture ID that confirms both the sketches are of Cisco, a.k.a. Francis Shaw
I thought Ollie, Angela's ex, gave Dom Cisco's description.

Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

bbfg, Trump was making noise he was running in February, 2015. If we're over a year ahead of the timeline in real life, then obviously it gets harder to tell what's a flashback (Esmail doesn't mark flashbacks, fyi) in that timeline.

Remember (it's hard to put this together so far down the line, and the internet hasn't been particularly helpful), Colby wasn't arrested for the 5/9 hack. He was arrested for something else. If you think it's believable that he's out of prison, exonerated, written a book, gotten a book deal with buzz, etc. (completely outside of the audience's view) in roughly 3 months (right on the heels of a global financial crisis that would make him invisible) based on the show's timeline, then great. I'm not going to back and watch the show again, but I sure thought he just disappeared toward the end of season 1, and that was our first new view of him. It would seem remarkably stupid for Price to have been having those kind of discussions with a former employee who's writing a book. When I see that character in a normal situation, talking like he's a person in power (rather than someone disgraced) with a person in power, my brain's going to internalize it as a flashback even if it's not, due to how Esmail treats flashbacks. That's solely because it's just not plausible for him to be having that meeting in that place to me.

This show requires a huge suspension of disbelief. It's easier for some than others. That's the problem when you try to have real world stuff coincide with fiction, and then you end up with a timeline that is wildly behind current times despite trying to be current or ahead of the curve.

To me it looked like a pretty good representation of what happens when tempered glass breaks, but I'm just somebody who knows what he's talking about.

Red face Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

I might be in the camp that the scene was a flashback, though.

When it started, I was like huh, no flashback this week?.. It seems like nearly every episode has begun with a flashback this season.

Also, they are discussing the Congo. The answer lies in that part of it.
When those characters met on-screen in the post-credits of the finale, White Rose brought up the Congo. I cant recall the exact phrasing, but I think that dialogue would make it clear.

So, you just happened to miss the giant shard of glass that looked like it was going to land exactly on Darlene? The shot in the gifmeister's post (first machine gun shot) is what I think you describe (hole with spidering). The giant shard is something different once the entire pane explodes, and there are also other giant shards in the shot. Look at iconoclastic's gif to see it. I have no idea how glass like that shatters in real life, but if it shattered the way it did there, Darlene is in trouble. I'm not sure how you think you can prove otherwise, unless you're just saying that glass like that has no sharp edges once it behaves the way it did there. No matter how accurate you *think* the overall shot looks, that is a bad visual effect certainly not intended to be seen as closely as it was in the internet examples.

The gifmeister's post proved that it was a flashback, as what he quoted came from the USA network website.

Yes, you've made that clear. I do, and I've just told you it looks pretty much exactly like that scene. There are no shards.

Look at this gif if you have not.

https://gfycat.com/PositiveExhaustedAndeancat

Are you saying that no one would get cut by any of the large pieces of glass falling out of that window (specifically the one appearing to fall directly on Darlene)? Are you saying that glass in a potentially 40 year old plus building also has this kind of safety feature?

From an NYC glass storefront's website:

Quote:
The smaller pieces of glass are much less likely to cause injury therefore reducing liability on the business. We use it in everything from shower doors to architectural glass doors.
Pretty sure that doesn't apply to machine gun fire, but I could be wrong I guess.

I'm saying you have no idea what you're talking about, which you have admitted yourself. I know what the different types of glass are. I know how they break. I'm telling you that part of the scene is fine and you're wrong. Why in god's name would you continue to argue this point?

Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

I'm not arguing, I'm asking you to explain what would happen with that glass (all you said is it was accurate, you did not describe any effects from a set of machine gunned projectiles). I'm also asking if a piece the size of what was appearing to fall on Darlene can cut someone? The piece that fell on Darlene was a clearly added visual effect (it just appeared out of thin air), meaning they probably had a purpose for why they wanted that piece to appear to fall on her. If they were intending her to be shot, they did an absolutely horrible job of showing that. If they intended to hurt her with the glass instead, they showed it well, but you're saying there's no chance she would be hurt (I guess).

So, again, what would happen if the edge of a piece of glass like the one appearing to fall on Darlene hit her in the neck or face? If your answer is "nothing", great. I've found in multiple places that you can be hurt by tempered glass, just not as badly due to the small sizes of broken glass. One instance where it said you can be hurt is when large pieces do not disengage (such as in the gif). I doubt there are many examples of what would happen if someone shot through one of these windows with a machine gun and you were sitting next to it (if you weren't hit by the bullets).

Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

Yes, that is tempered glass in the scene, the piece that look big are not, they will break into a thousand pieces by the time they landed. They will use that wherever there could be a liability, all shower doors, bathroom windows, sliding doors, and store fronts etc.

I installed a patio sliding door and broke one of the panes, it cracked into a thousand pieces but stayed together until I started to remove it, it would just falls in pieces.

Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

That last assassination scene was fabulous. I liked how Dom, FBI agent, bravely popped up to shoot the assassin and then comes onto the street with blood on her face. I'm pretty sure Darlene is alive for story reasons.

The guy, Michael Cristofer, who plays current Ecorp CEO Philip Price has been doing a terrific job all season. He commands the screen.

Liked the kiss scene between Angela and Elliot. Makes them seem more complex than just rebels.

It could be that the cellphone caller to Joanna is Scott Knowles whose wife Tyrell killed or that Knowles has taken Tyrell prisoner. Who knows?
