I'm a Lynch fan, but didn't expect this treatment in Mr Robot. I thought a good major plots for season 2.0 would have been for F-society with Elliot to fight to take administrative control of E-corp and try operate it in way to benefit the common person or to take on the Dark Army.
Nah, the opening scene is straight out of Natural Born Killers. Nunne will probably think this is also supposed to be a "joke" sequence. It has a laugh track!

If you compare it relatively, we knew even less about TD S2's storyline after E4 than we do about the plot of Mr. Robot S2.

17 mins was way too long. was painful to watch. had to pause it several times to get through it.

i didnt like esmails movie comet, it was kind of the same feeling i get while watching s2. no idea whats going on, feeling nothing, waiting for something. couldnt even finish that movie.

i pretty much agree with everything nunnehi has said.

im not giving up on it yet though. they havent ruined the CEOs plotline yet and white rose. and maybe tyrell will come back.

Also agree with most of the criticism of this season. The writer of this must be doing a lot of drugs to believe it's a good idea to turn your show into a bad sitcom for 17 minutes. Would've been okay if it was much shorter.

They really need to get back to progressing Elliot's story. Does anyone actually care about Angelas hacking adventures? That whole plot is just dumb.

As for Mr. Robot's lackluster linear ratings, McCumber isn't worried.

"It has done amazing things for USA Network across the board and for our studio as well," he said. "The way we look at every original series now is how do you build a franchise out of that original series and do that across the network and with the studio. Those young and rich audiences aren't watching live TV the way that they used to; they're watching it on every other platform. Every piece of research we have — VOD ratings, all of last year — you can see that far and beyond of any show that's on USA Network is an ultra-time shifted show. When I look at Robot, I look at a big picture: We built and are continuing to build a franchise that's profitable, that's prestigious, that audiences love and we know they're really dedicated to. We keep building from there. The linear rating is one very small sliver, especially in this case."

Why didn't the Dark Army kill Dom too if their goal was to end the FBI's investigation into them? She was the only agent who had any clue what was going on.

Maybe theyve already hacked her and she's more valuable alive

Was that actually the actor who plays Tyrell in the trunk? I thought it was, but didn't get a good look. Might be a hint of what happened to him.

She was speculating about that too. Thought is was supposed to send a message...or something?

Are we 100% she was not killed deliberately? If so I think it's related to the conversation she had with White Rose. He saw something of potential in her or whatever.

The network President was the Head of Marketing for USA Network from 2004-2011. Since taking over there, he has completely destroyed the channel (pretty similarly to the destruction Bob Greenblatt's done to NBC, which he joined around the same time). He was smart enough to create a brand through a very unique marketing campaign (Characters Welcome), and then completely destroyed that brand upon becoming the head of content. His ONLY actual success is Suits, which is a disaster. Mr. Robot has/had critical acclaim and award notice, but that speaks much more to his marketing genius than his actual ability to run a studio/network. He is pretty much Baghdad Bob, acting like there's nothing to see here with the massive loss of viewers the already niche Mr. Robot has had. This is no longer the channel that brought you expert shows like Monk, Burn Notice, and Psych. It has zero identity anymore. The two best shows on the channel are Mr. Robot and Queen of the South, and neither pulls in more than a 0.4 in the 18-49 demo. Not even 4 years ago, they had multiple shows pulling in over 1.2 in the summer. Their downward slide really started when Common Law didn't get renewed for reasons unknown, despite having the ratings to return.

USA is now a place nearly completely devoid of good light hearted humor, when that used to be its absolute strength. And that brand also was nominated for plenty of Emmys, it just never would have gotten any nominations in the series categories.

I hated the sitcom scenes, maybe 5 minutes worth would have been fine but it dragged and I FF'd a lot. Half way through the season and nothing is happening with Elliot, I don't need 6 episodes of him and his psychosis. Now he is locked in a boiler room, probably for the next 4 episodes.

You're starting to learn why "crazy protagonist" is not a thing on network TV, unless they're murderers. The pretty decent TNT show Perception was the highest profile version of that before this show on basic cable, and it was agonizing watching a very likable character descend into madness. Most people watch TV to escape, not identify (unless it's a sitcom).

It's pretty subtle so far, but this show has very much been pushed toward a more standard TV show. Dom is clearly the protagonist in the show now (super cop after the bad guys, despite no one agreeing with her), and all of this other stuff is allowed probably solely because of that larger storyline. If we should care about anything from a cable TV executive perspective (there's honestly not much to care about in the show), it's Dom winning and taking the boss of E Corp out (who's also working with White Rose/The Dark Army aka the bad guyz). What else is there to root for? In season 1, at least there was an objective for our crazy "protagonist". Season 2, nah, so they have to introduce a real one. It's almost hilarious how drug filled this show was at the start, and there's been basically none of that since the early episodes.

really surprised the majority hated the opening i thought it was great.

maybe if this was the only show i was watching I'd whine about the plot moving too slowly

thought it was awful, fast forwarded it after five minutes with the intention of skipping the whole episode if it kept on like that

Since I have about 2 hours a night to watch my shows, a plot moving too slowly is not a good thing, and this is from someone who really liked Carnivale S1.

Agree with the above.

To me this show went downhill when I learned that Darlene is Elliott's sister and the dad isn't real. Bunch of script kiddies hacking the biggest conglomerate and causing a revolution is interesting enough, didn't have to go full M Night Shyamalan.

I love that he have come to this, a meme-line you pull out to cut something down like you do with "you went full ******, you never go full ******"

Must feel bad that after a great start with 6th sense and some other movies to a career alltime low after such a rocketstart to have that kind of streetcred amongst the upper moviecritics of internetz(ya, he could arguably not care but its a big viewerbase that affect alot of their friends with strong opinions.)

Like we all got that moviegeek you ask for advice, and everyone is gonna be joking about mr M Night Shyamalan.
