Sam Esmail has multiple writers working with him, and it isn't an anthology, so the concerns about TD are a little off base. If this season maintains the same intensity, this will arguably be the best drama on TV.

I also read an interview with him where he talked about how he has the whole 4-5 season story mapped out beforehand. I have high hopes.

I am rewatching S1, 8 eps in. The show is extremely rewatchable, haven't been bored a second. A lot of things also make more sense if you watch them with knowing all the twists. I weirdly enough even liked the episodes with Elliott tripping because it was so well done.

The only thing that doesn't really make sense to me is the plotline with the music cd malware. It seems unnecessary and is also pretty unrealistic. So you work for a cyber security firm and you get donked by a stupid trap. Seems like you'd know exactly who to consult to resolve the situation optimally.

But they just decide to follow instructions without much doubt. It would've been fine if the ask was low, but they had to commit a crime which could send them to prison for years and ruin them forever if they somehow get implicated.

And all that for a couple of nudes and financial information? It seemed out of place and unnecessary, they could've gone so many other ways to establish the dark army hacking Allsafe. It is implied slightly that Ashley's family has something to hide but nothing significant enough for it to make sense.

It's Tyrell knocking on Elliot's door at the end of season 1 right?

Stumbled onto this show after hbo series finales and will definitely be excited for s2. Thought the music was really good and will be rewatching s1 with the gf and adding everything to the music library.

Somewhat anti-climatic way of dealing with the cliffhanger imo. I guess it's only part 1 of 2 and obviously this show earned a lot of benefit of the doubt.

I won't put anything spoiler boxes before the real airdate, these are really nitty things,

Spoiler:

The press conferences he saw on TV:
Their fake Obama voice guy was great, completely seamless, but the content was a little off, too, the Obama stuff was clearly stitched together from something involving the actual military and something involving the economy.
The one with Panetta in a tux, though? Man if you couldn't get proper press conference stuff about cyberwarfare just go a different direction, that was lame. Panetta hasn't even worked in government since 2013.

Doing the fake press conference thing is tough, I get it, but for a show that generally has movie-quality production values those popped the bubble a little bit.

Spoiler:
What % of the audience do you think even knows who Panetta actually is? Then what % of that group would even notice it was him + be aware of what you said?

Seems like a really minor nit to pick.

This is one of those fan theories that is so good that they should consider reshoots to do this instead of their actual plan, if it's not true.

The second half of the premiere really made up for the weakness of the first half but still how do you have a season finale start in media res, end that finale with a cliffhanger, and STILL never get around to explaining it?

This Show follows no rules of TV. Slow start big finish. Sad to see that character go if that is reality. Total surprise.

Spoiler:
during the aftershow, they asked the actors to describe their character in 1 word this season, Rami said "committed". Seems pretty spot on

In the after show all the actors gave one word to describe their characters path forward. Remi malek said "committed" and the rest of the cast kinda inside joke chuckled at that. Pretty much sold he's currently in a mental health facility type thing and what we're seeing is a mental construct.

For someone to be able to figure that out in one episode, damn.

Doesn't seem all that "whoah" - the oddities of his living situation and daily routine are weird enough that the show is clearly hiding something. But I did just watch the two parts at once so maybe that puts it together better.

How was that theory already up on reddit before the episode even aired yesterday? Seems like that is coming from someone with more access than an average viewer.

So is the dude that Tyrell's wife is banging the same one that Darlene was shown with out on the balcony last season? Do we know who that guy is, and am I just really bad at recognizing faces?

Ah, that makes sense.

I like the "committed" theory. Not sure how the dude's dog fits in with that, but it wouldn't be the biggest hallucination he's had.
