lost was great at making you think the show was good and thats why you wanted to see new episodes.

massive cliffhangers without any payoffs will do that

I assumed she was always there. They mention she's just moved back to the city. I guess Elliot just didn't want to tell Tyrell about the others for whatever reason.

I think Elliot or White Rose asked her to comeback for the hack. Siblings with hacking superpowers is an interesting twist.

The little details in this show are amazing.

Sonic Youth, Kool Thing. It's one of the best grunge rock songs in history.

Its usage here was nonsensical (love the song), as there's no way someone who's 25 years old would ever in million years be listening to that song (came out in 1990). That proves doubly true since no one here could answer your question. Never ever lump that song in with Foo Fighters...lol. The song was out before Nirvana was much of a known entity.

With all of the recency bias going on here, you're all somehow forgetting Fargo season 1? That's possibly one of the best first seasons if not best first season in TV history.

To me, that episode was the end of the movie. It felt like the whole show could have ended on Elliot's "I don't know" (I also felt like a ton of this was out of sequence, like you could basically have made the movie out of bits and pieces of the first two episodes and this one). There are serious issues for the show to have played out this way, such as the meeting between Mr. Robot and Tyrell. Based on what we were shown, it's very unlikely we were seeing any kind of dual reality other than that any scene Mr. Robot was in was supposedly really just Elliot. These other people do exist...or nothing exists.

Don't be so sure! Although yeah, nobody else answered yet lol. I probably heard it in my younger days, I am old enough to have been in to Seattle grunge as much as a teenager in the UK could be at the time (lol world without internet!). Once I heard the full thing though, I remember where I really knew it from:

(Guitar Hero III - released in 2007). This was ***** hard lol. Nothing compared to the Slayer track, but something odd with the rhythm I could never make my hands do accurately lol.

I never really thought of Sonic Youth as grunge tbh, but I did recognize that song.

I was unaware the song was used in a fairly recent version of Guitar Hero. Otherwise, that song's started to fall into relative obscurity.

Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

I am confused, is this what basicly happened?

-Tyrell was aware of Elliot having some type of plan to do major damage to Evil Corp and was keeping a close eye on the situation but was keeping the information to himself to get max value out of it at some point. (since we don't know Tyrell's true motivations yet this could be for various reasons)

-Tyrell noticed the honeypot being restored to a normal server and with him being fired he made sure that it was kept in this state because Tyrell read correctly that this was related to Elliot's plan.

-Tyrell will now team up with Elliot to go through with the hack since due to him being fired he has to use a different tactic that will bring him closer to his goals.

Is this basicly the premise for the final episode?

Anyone have any idea what Tyrell is after? The only one that is kinda reasonable that I can predict is that Tyrell just wants to climb the ladder of Evil Corp for some reason we don't know about yet and if Evil Corp is hacked they will have to fire their CTO which opens the door for Tyrell again?

Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

Your first three points seem to be correct.

No idea what Tyrell is after anymore, since they've kind of blown up any theory of the Steel Mountain meeting being anything but a coincidence. Or maybe it's exactly what we thought, and Tyrell was only holding off on the Dark Army side of the attack because he still thought he could be CTO. Now that he knows that will never happen, it can be assumed that might be why he'd go through with the hack. I have zero idea what his endgame is. I guess it's possible Elliot's in a mental institution, and the men in black are really the men in white.

Right now, the biggest issue is that car meeting between Tyrell and Mr. Robot. If he was talking to Elliot in that scene, then there's obviously some bigger play about to happen (as in Elliot and Tyrell were always working together in some way). Also, the "thing" that we were led to believe the hack was attempting to do is not what it evidently was. We thought (I think) that the goal of the hack was just to erase data and its backup(s) in China. Instead, it appears the hack was done to encrypt all the data so that no one can open it once that's been successfully executed. Is that correct?

Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

Yeah, they gonna encrypt it which is apparently more efficient than deleting.

Popular theory seems to be that Tyrell will just get shot with a gun hidden in popcorn machine for threatening Eliot. But that seems rather too straightforward for this show.

Encrypting seems more like a set up for blackmail/extortion. Wouldn't that still be reversible?

It was kind of glossed over, but the working assumption is that Angela was offered Tyrell's old job, correct?

There's a bunch of data to take care of so wiping or encrypting it will take time. People will notice quickly if someone is wiping all data, but encrypting it is less noticeable. When/if they wipe the key, no data will be recoverable.

Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

So they're encrypting prior to a delete, or are they just trying to lock the files? And at this point what they're doing is still reversible, correct?

Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

Yeah if they use highly advanced encryption methods (given that they're top tier hackers not that difficult to believe) it is virtually impossible to get the key once it's deleted. The question is whether that still holds true if it's the mightiest company in the world that will do anything to decrypt the data, but that is something we can easily accept as a truth for the sake of the show. I'm going to guess encryption is chosen over deleting since encrypting data is a safer way of deleting it than actually deleting it in real life too . If someone wants to spend a **** ton of money to recover deleted data they can get a lot of it back.

Well up to last episode we saw 2 sides of Elliot's reality:

1) Elliot's side where he believes he is a new member of fsociety
2) Mr. Robot's side where he's in charge of fsociety

Except for Tyrell's scene with Mr. Robot we've seen everything through Elliot's eyes and how he experienced the world. So there's a whole side of Elliot's reality we have almost no experience with. I am guessing Tyrell meeting with Mr. Robot means that Tyrell knew Elliot before Elliot created the Mr. Robot personality. Tyrell probably never realized Elliot was being schizofrenic?

It also makes a little more sense that way that Tyrell tried to recruit Elliot since it seemed kinda weird when we first saw that scene? But if they knew each other for longer it's a bit more plausible.

Also, do we know what Tyrell holds over Elliot in the Mr. Robot meeting (=we as in the viewer)? I don't think we do but I have no idea .

Re: New Show- Mr. Robot

If it was Elliot he was meeting with, it would probably just be that he's the one who put fsociety on that server. It all wraps into his time at Allsafe. Something important, or not, to note was that Gideon was searching through his sent emails trying to find the authorization for taking away the honeypot. Basically, with last week's revelation, we've been led to believe that Elliot's been working with Tyrell all along, but something in the plan got out of control.

Remember the conversation Tyrell had with his wife saying that he needed to go to "God" for help or whatever? In the show we've seen so far, theoretically Elliot would be "God" since so much of it isn't real. I viewed that in context of the meeting with Mr. Robot, but they put the Mr. Robot meeting before that scene possibly as a misdirection and/or to make that not seem so on the nose. To me, if they wanted to go with a distraction, it seems like the most obvious thing to do at the end of the season is for Elliot to wake up back in that motel room where he was trying to kick the Morphine (that would be True Detective season 2 type storytelling, but is just a thought).
