If you exclude the HBO shows(Deadwood, The Wire, Sopranos)...

BB did start slow, but several other shows started fast. The Shield, Mad Men, Battlestar Galactica(seriously!).

They need to do something more than just ape Fight Club here. There needs to be one more kick to put this into that top tier.

I think these are just facts.

The attack on E corp tho.

Really hope that they will pull the trigger and execute the plan successfully instead of the usual cat and mouse for extended seasons.

Heroes also had quite strong season 1 although I think GoT and Prison Break are the best.

Tyrell always seems to have some thug types around him when he is not at the office. Are these E Corp dudes or some other association such as White Rose?

Lets not forget the gun in the popcorn machine at FSociety!

I love the Gideon character. In a show that's all about 2 groups of people fighting over what's right, he's completely outside of the conflict and yet the truest moral backbone of the show. Despite that we've had to watch his company collapse around him and Elliot, who he was desperately trying to reach out to and protect, turn on him. Gedion coming to the realization that Elliot was actively working against him/AllSafe was a great scene.

I also really liked how the breakfast scene with Gideon and Harry was shot and think it's a good example of a lot of what the show is doing with camera work.

Gideon is shot from above in almost total darkness while talking about how the AllSafe issues are going to destroy him. Then the camera flips around to Harry who is telling Gideon how much he loves him and that everything will be okay and it's shot at face level with lots of warm light. Almost in a too-blissful Pollyanna kind of way, if you want to read it like that.

Really drives home the juxtaposition in the characters' mindsets.

It may have been shot well, but it was cringe worthy dialog. Couples don't talk that way.

You're relationship sucks if you or your partner don't offer those sort of comforting words when going through that sort of crisis.

Like I have relationships

It wasn't the comforting words, it's how they were said. These guys are married. They've presumably known each other and been living together for years. Long term couples talk in shorthand. They don't do lengthy exposition while delivering breakfast in bed.

I don't think anyone could make a case for anything else than TD here.

You are right about the short hand, but (and I'm only talking about my relationship), big things aren't done in shorthand.

For me, it's:

1. Mr robot
2. Lost (people forget how amazing the first two seasons were, because the lasting memory is how it all went to ****)
3. BSG

I don't think GOT got amazing until season 2

Every other show had dead episodes imo, I can't remember another show that was this amazing every single week

Can throw a firefly bone in there too.
