Could this be the best first season of any tv show? Only other show that comes to mind is true detective. /end of hyperbole

edit: if the finale is as good as the last few episodes

Homeland S1 is up there, but yea I don't think there is any shame in taking Mr. Robot.

Kirby,

I took that scene at face value as him basically threatening/scaring Elliott into revealing that stuff.

Of course, it could easily be something very different.

There's more than one way to convince a person - Tyrell put that glove on, maybe it's another Fight Club homage.

I would say its the best first season on standard cable. Breaking Bad first season was close. The best season of Justified was the second season with Maggy.

Midas,

Breaking bad vs this is a good one. BB s1 was great.

I love justified, but s1 nowhere close to this. It didn't really hit its stride until s2, which I agree was great.

First season of BB was great, but it was the way it kept improving that made BB BB.

Best first season off the top of my head (that I have watched) might be Prison Break, but that might be due to it looking a lot better than the following seasons.

A note from EW's review: "Next week, there will be an important scene that occurs after the credits of the season finale. (Think Marvel Studios.) I’m told that this extra bit is something fans will definitely want to see…"

BB Season 1 was very mediocre, Season 2 was good, 3-5 amazing.

All,

Dunno if this was just directv ****tiness or if it was shot like this, but did you notice a sort of glitchy shake in Elliot's face when he got really mad arguing w mr robot early in the ep?

Agree there was kind of a step back in the middle... don't really like the AllSafe guy and I think Darlene/Angela are kinda weak... rest was very good though imo.

Side note, I really liked his drug dealer lady friend there but it was 100% obvious she was gonna die when they smiled talking to each other on the phone. I don't hate that they killed her but I think she was the best female character on the show.

I assume you meant AllSafe guy - he is the only person that has been tagged by Elliot as an honestly good guy.

I think a lot of the E9 plot was setting up storyline for next season - lots of unanswered questions.

Wow, so so good. And yeah, recency bias and all that, but definitely up there as the one best first seasons.

I thought Gideon's part was pretty good, seeing him get bent over by Eliot's actions and being unable to do anything even while knowing more or less what's going on.

Angela is always the snooze part of this show.

And definitely time for an avatar change. I loved Fringe but there's a new king.

Not sure why the Gideon hate. He's a guy that is trying to do what's right and seemed to be suspicious of Elliot which has turned out to be spot on. His company is about to be ruined because of Elliot's revenge plot. Not exactly something the guy deserves.

Show could use more Terry Colby. Even if you hate him the guy kills it in the scenes he is in.

I actually think Prison Break is up there too.

Thinking about it shouldn't this have been the final episode on the season?? Not sure what is up for next episode but it seems like a good stopping point since we are now moving down a new path.

I think that Elliot created the Mr. Robot alter ego to hold on to his memory of his dad (who actually did die of cancer from E Corp, I think) by keeping him as a mental presence and not letting go of his dad, even when others have already moved on from him (Elliot was closer to this dad than the others were, and he felt guilty about betraying his trust, so he created this burden on himself to punish himself for hurting his dad).
