Yeah that was what I thought was a misstep with Slater from Season 1.
Like, after episode 1, you thought Slater was real. After a few more episodes, you started to suspect he wasn't real, and it was like a lock by episode 4 or 5 that he was fake, the audience knew it and we were just waiting for the characters to find out.
Then, real oddly, they threw in some scenes that seemed like they were designed to open the question up again, but we already "knew" he was fake, so those were just pointless transparent misdirection.
I'm hopefully they hit this twist a little cleaner. Just like with Slater, they've foreshadowed the twist pretty hard already, Craig Robinson's character especially. So the audience, even people who didn't read that reddit post, will figure it out in a week or two.
