You realize this was the very similar to the short lived Occupy Wall Street movement who wanted all student debt eliminated.

Elliot's simplistic view was that Evil Corp killed his Dad so he was going to ruin them. All the other stick it to the man bs is just rationalization for a simple revenge plot.

Ultimately this is a story about one really intelligent kinda messed up guy.

Regardless of whether their plans would be a good thing or not, it's not unbelievable that all the characters involved in fsociety believe what they are doing is good even if it isn't, there are certainly tons of these type of people in the real world. Who else but them knew about this plan to tell them "hey hacker anti corp dudes, maybe this isn't the best idea"

because in the real world hackers care about whether it is a good idea or not?

USA marathoned this for 24 hours this past weekend. Watched it for first time. Then I just read this thread.

Two takeaways:

1) Nunneni super jelly
2) RIP Shayla

Mr. Robot wins a Golden Globe? I thought this show was way to out there for award shows!

It was a great thing to see (one of few) Mr. Robot win best drama, but don't forget that the foreign press also awarded Lady Gaga a best actress award earlier in the evening.

Robot likely will not be winning any Emmy's, even though it should definitely be given some thought.

Unless something weird happens, any Emmy consideration for the show would have to be for the second season.

Congrats to Sam, it's great for him (if he pulls off directing all episodes of season 2 well, he'll probably become a superstar), but lol@HFPA. Comcast probably paid a lot of money to be in consideration, as that's essentially the bribery awards.

Mr Robot won

Best Drama
Best Actor
Best Supporting Actor

At the Critics Choice Awards.

Even the critics loved it.

meh, watched the first 4 eps and decided to read this thread because if my suspicions of Mr robot = Tyler Durden were correct then I'd stop watching this. and it appears this is the case so I don't know if I'm gonna keep watching even though I've read like 300 "best first season ever posts". it's all so fightclubesque it bothers the **** outta me.

In a weird way it's not all that central to the show. It's like the season long plot is wrapped up in the fightclubesque **** but episode to episode the subplots are enjoyable.

I turned off episode 1 20 mins in and refused to watch for months because it was so cringe worthy. But it won me over eventually.

that's not supposed to be a super sick reveal, the intention was to make that pretty easy to figure out from the get-go.

Keep watching. That bothered me too, until I realized what JDalla just pointed out. He even says "But you already knew that" to the viewer when the 'reveal' comes.

Just finished the season.
Definitely interesting enough to make binge watch the whole thing, but I still cringed at some Fight Club nods. "I have to get myself arrested", "If he knows this I know this", etc.

Tried looking up itt what Tyrell's wife told Eliott in apparently danish but couldn't find it anywhere. Found this on reddit tho:

Quote:
In danish: "Hvis du har gjort ham noget, så slår jeg dig ihjel." "If you have done something to him (implying harm), I will kill you"
Also, I wanna marry her. That scene with Eliott was probably my favorite from the finale, for different reasons. Loved the "Show me the Pradas" too.

Also really liked the departure from the typical USA formulaic show... While I really enjoyed burn Notice and white collar the formulaic approach gets old after awhile.

Great trailer. Hopefully I can find time for a rewatch because I'll be lost otherwise.

Looks great from the trailer but there is a huge expectation of excellence after Season 1. Hopefully they don't pull a True Detective Season 2.

lol - Obama cameo

I wonder if they really got Obama to do it.

Trailer looks like it'll be excellent imo. I can't survive another of my favorite shows bombing after True Detective and Banshee.

CNN said Obama did not dub the line (other lines are from a press conference), so it was probably just a high quality impersonator or someone found a way to Frankenbite those words from other speeches.

I can't wait for this show to come back. I don't want it to go the way of True Detective but you have to wonder if the show runner can bring the magic again.
