Not as good at binging as most of you, but 2/3rds through episode 2.

Great great show - only flaw is too much time spent on Wendy's personal life.

Agree with that. It is like they felt they had to have an outside of work relationship like they did last season with Holden.

Last night I was early into episode 8 and it was getting time for bed and then a long Wendy part came up and I was like perfect time to go to bed.

Interesting that they cover Paul Bateson in episode 06, he had a small role in The Exorcist as a medical assistant seen here at the start of this scene, actor who plays him in Mindhunter looks quite similar to him too. Afaik Bateson is free today having been paroled several years ago

Finished last night.

Spoiler:
The ending seemed very unsatisfying. Why the hell couldn't they follow up on those two super easy leads. TILT

FYP since every show needs a gay storyline/character these days to get made. At least it makes sense here since it was something she could use in that interagation and the subject lines often veer into sexual/homosexual motives. So to their credit it made sense rather than the typical shoehorning in.

I didn't want to type that since it is a quasi spoiler (don't think they visited that aspect of her character in season 1).

I'll say that the characterization in this is probably the best I've seen in a while. You couldn't convince me that Tench is anything but a gruff ex marine used to discipline and taking charge. It's the small things like the say he responds to someone quickly like he's taking control of the conversation. Even just now in season 5
Spoiler:
Carr's date says something like "the abundance in one's life shouldn't be reflected in one's surrounding" and Carr says something like, "who said that?" as if her date was quoting someone famous like someone in academia would expect someone to do

S2 has been amazing. So many great performances, esp Manson. Just wow.

I didn't find season 2 to be nearly as satisfying as season one. I'm interested in the interviewing and profiling parts, and season 2 was almost exclusively case work. Needs more Kemper.

Spoiler:
Also, seems like they were going somewhere with Ford's spiral into sociopathy and I guess he just figured it out on his own? The last few episodes felt like a garbled mess and the season ended in a way that might end the series. I get there are still issues with the case to this day, but it just didn't feel right.

The Watson interview was as chilling as anything I've ever seen...coming on the heels of the Manson interview. Especially after recently watching Tarantino's alternate history.

Finished off S2. It was....okay...meh.

Manson has been so overdone so I was like....really? Tench's conduct in there was so forced and made no sense even in light if his home life.

Tench and Nancy home scenes are excruciating. Yes, it shows who Tench really is but the scenes are brutal. The ending was fairly unexpected. The Brian business is fairly bizarre. I mean dump him off at the Greyhound station already jesus.

Yes, most Wendy relationship scenes brutal as well.

Atlanta murders also so overdone but found myself engrossed even though I knew evey twist of the story line. They followed the facts with little aberration.

There does seem to be a natural progression to the whole story as they get better and better at profiling

The BTK teaser was pretty good. He was a total whack job.

The feel of the placement in time of the events is fairly well done.

They did a great job casting all the serial killers. I've seen interviews with Wayne Williams and the actor looked and acted how I'd imagine he would. BTK, Kemper, and Berkowitz also highly accurate from what I've seen.

Wendy story line is the worst. Tench family scenes are too forced. The chances of the first serial killer profiler actually having an evil/killer son is just too much. Just buy the new house and move, it's so obvious. Tench is great though. At least we didn't have to deal with any Holden personal life drama.

im glad i checked in here. so now i know i can just skip all the wendy life stuff, and tench home life stuff.

it is interesting how people used to be scared of serial killers. i guess it was in the news and people were dying from it, but statistically the deaths are nothing. so when people realized it wasn't an actual threat we all just dismissed it.

i wonder too if there are less serial killers now because no one cares anymore. now mass shooting are all the rage, and people care about that, so people do that for attention instead? idk... just kinda ranting.

i just saw the scene with manson. i love that actor! but the scene was meh. i liked him a lot better as dewey crowe in that other show. i think it was called justified?

interesting that tarantino picked two actors from that show, boyd crowder and dewey crowe. both great actors.

I think there's too much surveillance around nowadays to be a serial killer. Margin of difficulty has to be extremely high now.

BTK actually managed to get away with all he had done, and only slipped up when he was communicating with police. I remember how crazy it was to see who it finally was.

The good: the interviews of serial killers.
The bad: any home life at all
Ok: the rest

Manson was Dewey Crowe from Justified.

The real Kemper sounds nothing like the actor.

Soundtrack is incredible.
