Most serial killers have been caught via detective work anyway rather than purely profiling, which the show to its credit alludes to.

This show is about the development of a particular unit within the FBI and the show is only in season 1 so I think they can be forgiven for not referencing all of the issues that have become apparent with decades of hindsight.
I very much doubt they will reference all the issues either.

the actor's imdb headshot looks scarier than his pics as speck

Pretty decent show but it is slowing down a bit near the end. I wish there was a bit more plot movement but it is still an entertaining show.

I wonder if season 2 will take some artistic liberties and add in some other serial killer investigations. Gacy was killing around this time and same with some other serial killers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Steven_Kraft and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Bonin

What specifically do you guys dislike about the Holden-Debbie relationship? I thought it was a pretty realistic portrayal of a serious relationship in your 20s.

The relationship itself isn’t particularly captivating, but it’s important to see how breaking ground interviewing these psychos is affecting Holden/Tench’s personal lives.

That scene with Debbie holding the blade to Holden's neck while he went down on her was really odd.

It sounds like maybe I should muscle through and watch a few more episodes tho.
That scene was really awful, I just watched episode 1 and it was pretty mediocre but I'm looking forward to the parts where they interact with serial killers.

Binged it, was pretty good. 4/5 stars. I liked the acting, directing, overall vibe, music, and pacing (which no doubt is too slow for many). But I thought some of the stuff was a little ridiculous and not very believable, or alternatively way too obvious. Like the "splashing" thing that only Wendy caught, I assume virtually every viewer caught that immediately and we're supposed to believe mr. MINDHUNTER didn't?

Speaking of which, this is the worst name for a tv show ever. Would've skipped it because of the name had I not seen Fincher's name associated with it.

Looking forward to more.

Am I the only one who was convinced that Holden was a serial killer himself due to his autistic behaviour?

I immediately assumed it was some sort of paranomal/superhero detective show because of the name.

Great binge show, Wendy is hot. The show never intends to say that their methods are airtight, rather they say over and over they are learning on the fly and quite honestly don’t know what they are doing often. The interesting point of developing the methodology is not much had been done in profiling, so of course mistakes would be made and that’s true in general when trying to quantize human behavior.

The Devier case did actually produce a confession and it’s very interesting how much of the show is derived from reality. Acting for Kemper is good AF, bone chilling at times

Watched 7 eps and not sure if I'll finish. It's a bit boring and aimless. It's also oddly formulaic - it may be a formula that the show has created but a lot of the eps are structured too similarly. Find a psycho, interview psycho, discuss afterwards, throw in some not very interesting personal issues, repeat.

interesting vid. thanks!

as an actor who loves to play villains it's really interesting to me how they went with this. the actor made his kemper much more playful. the real life kemper was more depressed. i think the actor was a lot more fun to watch. the real kemper was regretful, or at least pretending to be. the actor kemper didn't' seem to be regretful at all.

I really hope Netflix makes a spin off show with Kemper's character somehow.

This is probably super obvious, but who is the guy in Kansas that they show like 1 minute of in every episode?

And what was the burning of picture from him about? Just setting it up for a season 2 arc?

Dennis Rader aka the BTK ("Bind Torture Kill") killer not sure re the picture as I'd need to revisit series.

Kemper was fantastic. And the little snippets of the Wichita BTK guy quietly going about his business were perfect. For the everyday stuff, I thought the relationship between Tench and Holden was very well done, how it changed over time.

Just finished episode 7 and feel mostly the same way. I hate the relationship stuff. Kemper was the best part and I keep hoping they will go back and see him but I’m guessing he is done.

They will go back to him in the last ep (ep8).
