Netflix is really killing it. I'd say at least 3 of my 5 favorite new shows of the year are Netflix Originals and 4 of my favorite 8 shows of the year period are Netflix Originals.

And I think Aziz's acting has been fine in this...he's no Daniel Day Lewis, but he doesn't need to be. He's a pretty good comedic actor imo

Daredevil, Master of None and Narcos are three of the best new shows of the year. I'd add Bojack Horseman into the list of favorite shows overall too.

watched it all this afternoon. Sad that there's none left. Having pasta for supper 100%.

I loved it, especially the rapport between Aziz and the actress playing his girlfriend. I suppose you have to be okay with Aziz's schtick, though. I can see how people might be annoyed by him if your sense of humor doesn't line up.

Nashville episode and the Skype audition in the coffee shop were highlights for me.

I watched the first two episodes. I can't believe all of the positive reviews in this thread. The first episode was mediocre at best and the second was cringeworthy. Second episode was an interesting idea that was executed horribly. The writing sucks and Aziz is even worse at acting. Should I try to watch a few more episodes or do I have no shot to like this show?

edit: ^^ The Skype audition was ridiculous, cringeworthy and not remotely funny. WTF?

It's not just here, it's 91% on Metacritic right now. I'm a little mystified by the degree of adulation too, although I like it a little more that you do.

Stop now.

I don't watch a ton comedy's and thought it was super easy watch and time flew by. Doesn't sound like that's happening so you could probably stop.

You basically have to like Aziz's silly, overly-energetic delivery. I do, but I'm aware that he's not everyone's cup of tea. I can see how that scene could be eye-roll inducing if it doesn't hit you right.

Another more subtle example of why I find him charming was the debate over the Eminem song. Such a trivial topic, but he plays it so seriously and enthusiastically I just found it endearing.

2 eps in and pretty underwhelmed

easy watch at least but hardly any actual laugh out loud moments for me

Show is great. Marathoned it pretty much immediately on Friday morning. I didn't love episode 2 fwiw either, but really enjoyed the pilot and like others have said after episode 2 its great till the end.

Not really the point, though.

It's somewhat like Louie to me, social commentary with some comedy sprinkled in.

Louie is 10 times the show this will ever be.

I'll take the contrarian side: I prefer Master of None to Louie. Sure, peak Louie was better (though not 10x better), but this is as well directed and imo supporting characters and mostly better. Aziz will never be Louis but his show can compete w Louie.

what's the point of comparing this to louie?

they're not trying to accomplish anything similar and are just totally different shows.

I think it's pretty obvious that it is a show that is trying to do what Louie has done so well. Unfortunately, Aziz can't carry Louis' jock in any capacity.

I like Louie, but I like this show better. Comparable highs, but Louie can have more snooze worthy episodes. This show is probably only half as ambitious though. Not entirely comparable shows, but you can definitely see that Aziz has seen and has very much respect for Louie.

I DGAF if louie or master of none is better, Louie was too dark for me and bored me after 2 or 3 seasons, Master of None got a really good first season and i hope if they do a 2nd one, that they can keep doing such a good job. Aziz team seems really great on that show, it s really well balanced for a comedy and they got top notch editing, casting ... Netflix seems to really be good at giving the tools to achieve really great TV. They are really upping the standard of Tv with their shows so far and with really minimal fails.

marathoned after 7th post itt. easy to digest, fun, nothing special

Louie is 10xbetter. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves TV so much that their myepisodes-calendar says 1year+wasted

Maybe I should try Louie since its 10x better but maybe that scale is weird. Dads got terrible reviews from everyone so maybe that's 100x or 1000x worse.

heh, that was only a rough estimate. I just think Louie is a much better show. It's better at being funny and better at being serious. But I'm old like Louie, so that might factor in.

Prob bc Louie >>>>>Aziz.

I like Aziz but his delivery can be so nasally and weird sometimes. Louie is awesome all around.

The two shows aren't on the same playing field but the supporting characters in Aziz's show (lesbian friend, Indian buddy up for same part) are great.

Lol at people comparing this to Louie... Soooooooo many cringe worthy moments and I thought I liked aziz. That scene in the bar when his gf gets upset over the man introducing himself to the men at the table but not the women made me hate her so much.
Still better than lots of content out there I suppose
