1>2>>>>>3 for me.
I remember thinking 2>1 upon first watch, but I think I got blindsided by the awesome Italy stuff. S2 just wasn't really all that coherent as a whole.
S1 had its flaws (being a little too woke, Dev constantly being offended by something, too many similarities to Louie), but it was really solid overall. S2 started out great (first 2-3 eps in Italy), then they had a run of extremely random eps that had nothing to do with anything (the ep where they follow people around and the movie with the twist at the end, the thanksgiving / coming out ep that was great on its own but just seemed really random in the context of the whole show, etc) and then they pulled Francesca back into the show out of nowhere. There was no chemistry between them at any point, Dev was friendzoned super hard for the first moment, and the whole "romance" thing just felt really fake and forced.
Lots of stuff to like there for sure and I still rate S2 quite high compared to most shows, but it was just a little too over the place and the season-long story arc of trying to find an emotional connection with someone would've worked much better if the Dev/Francesca thing was credible on a romantic level.
I think I swooned a little too hard at Alessandra Mastronardi to notice the flaws the first time I watched it, she really stole every scene she was in.
