I think they have a win either way. Josh is competitive but seems like a dude who has bucked his expectations and is really really good at cooking. That curry chicken he made looked ****ing amazing

Maybe I'm saying what other people are thinking, but I just don't see how Christine should have made it this far. Yes, I realize that it's not a competition about who will make the best actual restaurant chef, in which case her blindness basically takes her out of the running. And I understand that she's responsible for selecting ingredients, tasting, and deciding how to prepare things, but among the assistance she's received - at least from what I've noticed - is in telling her amounts, doneness (like in the oven), whether something is boiling or not, what her cuts look like, and so on. No doubt she has great talent and has been a pretty consistent performer, but I kind of feel like she's been kept around as a feel good story, and seeing Frank and Becky eliminated before her was what hammered this home, at least for me.

I dunno. Her plating is almost rediculously good, for anybody not just a blind woman. The chefs arent the only ones who have commented on her flavor palet. I think she desrves to be there, and yes if this was hells kitchen there is a good chance she is bounced early because of the handicap, but from what we have seen so far her dishes always look spectacular and she gets raves from the judges. Her scallops last episode are the best i have ever seen scallops prepared.

It's not like she's being told when it's done, etc. She asks what it looks like, and she's told the color, and so forth.

Good for Christine, it truly is an amazing story.

It looks like a lot of this thread forgot what the prize was, and where most of the money from its sales will most likely go. There was never a reason to root for anyone but the blind cook that will sell 100x more cookbooks than the rest of cast.

Yeah I was thinking last night, her cookbook is probably gonna be a best seller.

Yeah, pretty clear they wanted her to win. She's an amazing cook, but no way anybody else wins the title with high class homefood.

Are we starting a new thread for the upcoming season, or sticking here?

If it's a new thread, would someone please link it here?

Good premier episode. The audition episodes are my least favorite because of contrived pauses and commercials and fakeouts, but there were some good stories, and some really good looking dishes. The chile stuff from the guy that Joe called the frontrunner looked ****ing amazing.

I watched both eps but you pretty much nailed my thoughts with your post.

Let's wait until the competition actually begins

I was surprised that they didn't let the San Diego fire guy in considering all the build up he got. I also really laughed at Gordon telling some woman to go get her entire family, just to deny her. Pretty much the only things I remember from those auditions.

There are some hotties though this season, hope they make the cut next week.

meh. he didn't do anything special. wouldn't be right if they just let him in just because he had a sad story to tell. don't think anyone got through with just a sad story. i felt all the built up was for a "no" answer all the time

i did expect for the italian guy to make it though. couldn't have stood him getting rejected twice ...

unless he starts showing some innovation that makes sense, I think he will be an early bounce.

Agreed.

And the fire guy's food looked terrible. Inspirational guy though.

The auditions are pretty annoying. Someone tell the contestants it isn't clever to come out acting like they didn't make it and then, "Surprise!" They pull out an apron.

Some of the chauvinistic, bordering on misogynistic, comments are pretty juvenile too ("Nice Tail" and "Beaver... He he")

I liked that the Barbie Yacht Stewardess did a good job of butchering the fish.

Ramsay was all about bringing in the family and friends so they could watch their loved ones get rejected.

The entire Beaver segment was so cringeworthy, just awful. I cant wait til next week is over and the show starts proper

On the misogynistic comments, pretty ridiculous that Joe liked the food made by the pretty lung girl from Mexico, but voted a "no" because she was "just a little girl"

Um, wtf? Really?

Just got around to watching the first two episodes. Gotta love some of the dialogue:

Gordon: "Are you turned on by the beaver"

Joe: "I like beaver as much as the next man...."

No favorite yet for me, couple potential candidates, though.
