That's the point, though. it's an alternate reality, so some things are very similar but slightly different (such as the twist on the song 'strange fruit').

I watched the whole thing, but was very frustrated early on with the poor writing & plot devices. I suspect I'll probably watch the first episode of season 2, whenever it comes out, and then stop after that.

If we imagine the universe that this is happening in, there would be so many people/characters with a more interesting story. That said, my main problem is with the lazy writing for the story that is presented to us.

Just finished the series and loved it. Interesting concepts, great writing and well acted. Very believable alternate reality. Binge watching does leave you wanting more fast.

This is pretty much the Walking Dead of history shows, blessed with an amazing premise that keeps you suffering through a dreadful mess.

Thought it was a solid show, nothing amazing but definitely watchable. Rufus Sewell's character pretty much carries the show, what a perfect casting choice.

Also, if anyone else recognized the actor playing Wegener but couldn't remember from where:

In the book, The Man In The High Castle is the author of a novel about how the Allies could've won, he wasn't collecting magic films(that he made? The show is real confusing on that point. Where are these films coming from?).
Just finished, and this my biggest question.

At first I figured the Resistance either knew

1) where the films were coming from or
2) where they were going

but it seems like, they actually don't know either? Who are they actually delivering them to? someone who then gives them to Hitler? Is Hitler the one leaking knowledge of their existence to the Resistance? That's...confusing.

So, after S1 I really have no idea what's going on, just in terms of some basic questions.

And then the last 2 episodes obviously rip everything open. Before that, you could have assumed the films were just propaganda being produced by anyone. But now you just have to assume they are being delivered by someone(s) who have developed the ability to travel back and forth between alternate realities. So now the show is mystical - whereas the book just plays it straight dystopian. so...bizarre.

Interesting premise...did Julianna really see Trudy from an alternate universe bringing films over?
didn't piece together that Trudy is one of them.

also, the mysterious person that Julianna 'recognized' from the film means Julianna has some connection to the other side.

anyways yeah this show is now Fringe (which I didn't finish)

S2 > S1

Season 1 - was randoms and spies trying to find the resistance and get the movies. It was good, but not great.

Season 2 - I liked better since it was more about Japan vs Germany, with the resistance being more like side characters instead of the main drivers of the plot. And these two superpowers are much more interesting.

Easily the worst tv show I've seen with a thread in this forum - TWD included.

I thought s1 was like 6.5/10, s2 was 9.5/10. Either 1st or 10th ep cold open should have been s1s1 opener.

Tell us more about how you hate the alternate reality aspect of a show about an alternate history.

I've been sort of marathoning S1. Its been putting me to sleep and I have to re-watch parts.

The suspension of disbelief required for the premise is immense. They state the war ends in 1947. The show is set in 1962. We are to believe that the entire USA#1 has been stripped of every gun, bible, and bullet in 15 years. There is basically no resistance. The Nazi's are celebrating V-A day on Long Island eating apple pie and throwing baseballs just like GWB had the Iraqis doing the same thing in only 6 years :-O C'mon man....

Yeah S2 so vastly superior to S1. The plot of this show is so unimportant. The acting carries it. 2-3 really skilled actors.

Funnily enough the best character actually isn't from the book.

It is extremely annoying they are speaking English at all in Germany since Joe is apparently fluent in German.
