Eh, germans proly like the opportunity to speak english with someone.

Its makes way less sense that the japanese speak english to each other.

Regardless, its a show for mericans so from an entertainment and procedural pov, its reasonable they dont want to subtitle the whole thing.

I don't really why they'd want that, German should be lingua franca if Germany rules majority of the planet.

But yeah, it is the usual simplification. Not like this is the only show that does it.

Most of them don't even speak German without an accent. It makes sense that Joe Blake doesn't, but almost non of the actors that play Germans are German. Wegener was played by a Danish actor, Joe's father by a French one and the woman playing the girl he meets is Australian.
Only Hitler is played by a German actor, which is kind of funny, because he was from Austria after all. But the real Hitler didn't have much of an Austrian accent in his speeches, so that seems to be fine.

Im just going on what germans told me when I visited. They said they learn engrish in school but then never get to use it, so they seem happy to speak it.

proly way different in this world tho, ofc.

thought I read about some secret tape by the Fins where Hitler was speaking with their head of state and had an austrian accent in private.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitler...heim_recording

no mention of accent here, so mebbe he just sounded a bit different than when lecturing.

Had never heard of that, but just listened to part of it. If you had told me, that the speaker was Austrianwithout knowing who it was. , I would probably have agreed. Without any information I would have said some vague southern accent I can't quite put. So I think they mostly nailed it on the series.

Just finished marathoning S2 and I enjoyed it very much. I definitely think it is better than the first season. I thought it was well written and acted and I hope we get another season of this show.

Gf is out of town and since watching our regular shows without her would be considered cheating, I had to try something new. Kinda binge watched it. Season 1 was meh, season 2 and 3 pretty good imo.

A theory regarding John Smith (using spoiler tags because it probably says a bit too much about the character to anyone that hasn't started watching yet)

Spoiler:
I have a strong feeling since mid/late first season that he's just gonna turn eventually and join the resistance. He'll obviously die soon after as TV morale can't afford to offer that kind of character an happy end. Note that I'm not THAT sure anymore after watching the last couple episodes of season 3, but I don't really see any other interesting arc for him

I find it most likely he will lead the American Reich against Germany from leader position. He obviously isn't some extremely ideological nazi, just pragmatist who flipped when it seemed that Germany will win the war.

So no comments on (the final) season 4?

I liked it a lot, but...

Spoiler:

Beware, kinda serious spoiler about the VERY LAST SCENE of the LAST EPISODE!
Spoiler:

you have been warned
Spoiler:
WTF is going on there; who are all these people coming out of the crossing? Are they supposed to be people crossing over because their equivalents in that reality where killed in the war? That would be millions.

And in any case, in what way would they help? They just seem to be random people having no particular equipment or supplies with them. If they would come out in significant numbers there would be a humanitarian crisis; they're in the middle of nowhere and the train was just destroyed.

Overall great season though, it's just this last scene I just don't get.

Spoiler:

That was really bad scene, I agree. I think it represented the "gate" opening, so that people could now freely move between worlds.

I agree on last season, the gun fights were especially LOL (and would've LOL in a 50s western), but this season (I'm 7 eps in) is excellent so far.

First 2 episodes of season 4 weren't very good but is worth it to watch all of it. Ending was ****ing odd but doesn't really take anything away from a good final season.

They could have had plenty of story for a season 5 if they wanted, or a longer 14-16 episode final season

For those who liked this series there's a British miniseries called SS-GB that has a similar plot, except in this one the Germans have only won the Battle of Britain and taken over the UK. But it's an excellent story if you ask me.

In Canada I found it on CBC Gem, but you in the US might be able to find it somewhere online as well.
