Agree, there is so much more interesting ground they could cover given more time. This season has been great but almost feels a little rushed because they are cramming so much into so few eps.

Regarding casting, does anybody know why Janel Moloney was cast as a comatose character? She's got a bit more range than that.

Another fantastic episode. So many great lines delivered by Matt.

The guy who played "God" (Bill Camp) is the same guy from Kevin's hotel world (appears on the bridge in the Assassin episode and then at the bar during the karaoke scene).

I also kinda thought that when he talked about Jesus "rotting in that cave, everyone saw his identical twin brother a few days later", he was referring to an explanation for his own survival. (EDIT: some more on this, the spoiler that follows is the title of episode 7):
Spoiler:
"The Most Powerful Man in the World (and His Identical Twin Brother)"

More confirmation that Kevin's hotel visit wasn't a delusion (I guess).

You can't go wrong with a Matt episode tbh.

A+ episode. It's going to be insane to have both this AND Twin Peaks running in the same week soon.

I'm not 100% sure that they aren't going to merge together in some way ;-)

Baffled anyone thinks that was a good episode. This show is becoming such a waste of time to watch. Gonna really be hard to grind through these last few episodes but I guess I'm committed.

The series has had some pretty high highs (with some very low lows) but overall I do not think ill look back on it too fondly

Interesting. Assuming the last three eps will match my expectations, I'd include it in my top5 shows of this decade. I think S1 was pretty uneven (first half sucked, second half great), but ever since then it has really never looked back.

Spoiler:
My top 5 would be Louie, Girls, BrBa, The Leftovers, and Parks&Rec, I'm excluding shows with less than 3 seasons to date

Christopher Eccleston, the actor, played in a 2 part 2003 miniseries called "The Second Coming", where he played, well, the second coming. Highly recommended.

Your're right, because that was a great episode!

Anyone thinks the last sentence has some double meaning w.r.t. him being a reverend?

Good read with the show's different creative people about last night's episode and just some writers' room insight in general. The part about where they got the idea for God's business cards is amazing:

Quote:
Byock: Did Damon talk to you about the genesis of God’s business cards?
Lindelof: We’re laughing in the writers’ room a lot. One day, I was telling the story of Thomas F. Wilson, who played Biff in the Back to the Future movies. Those movies came out in the mid-1980s, but anytime anybody sees this guy, they walk up to him and they’re like, “Hey! Were you Biff in the Back to the Future movies? What’s Steven Spielberg like? What’s Michael J. Fox like?” Et cetera, et cetera.
Byock: You might not expect it, but it was a fun writer's room. We were laughing constantly.
Lindelof: He got so used to and/or annoyed by people doing this to him that he printed out these cards and when you walk up to him, he just hands you one. You can Google it. And the first thing it says is, “Steven Spielberg did not direct Back to the Future, it was Bob Zemeckis.” Even the card is kind of annoyed. I was telling this story and everybody was laughing, and I was like, Let me put that in the back of my brain and figure out a way—oh, what if God hands out that card? Anything that evoked laughter in the writers’ room became fair game for actual stories.

In Laurie's s2 episode, there's a TV broadcast mentioning a claim of resurrection outside of Perth, and they identify him as David Burton, and talk about him emerging from the cave. The report says he "walked out, saying he'd just been in a hotel".

This could go both ways though - since this was kind of a big story, it's plausible Kevin saw this news report or one similar and saw a picture of the guy, and then recalled it during his hotel dream. Or maybe they both went to the same, metaphysical place.

I suspect this is one mystery we will get some more details on, but probably never any kind of definitive answer.

plus Michael was handling correspondence between Pillar Man and David Burton.

and per Virgil, Pillar Man is another person, like himself, that crossed over and returned.

agree that probably none of this will be explained.

kinda looking forward to the show ending at the moment just before the 7th anniversary where *something* is supposed to happen (or more likely, jump back for a final scene in the Nora flash-forward world), and having everyone freak out.

This. Probably had my expectations too high given how great S1+S2 were. Still, three more episodes is a lot of time to make a great final story arc (hopefully in the same way that Twin Peaks lagged in the middle of S2 but then proceeded to have an amazing set of final episodes).

I thought this was a great episode and am completely satisfied with the season thus far, but I can definitely relate to people saying this is moving too slow (especially the last 2 episodes). Can't wait to see where they take this in the last 3
