The Leftovers - Season 3 The Leftovers - Season 3

[QUOTE=JudgeHoldem;52144519]I wouldn't say I disliked the last 2 episodes but I'm ready to get back to moving the story forward in entirety. I'm not a big fan of episodes (in any show) that focus on just 1 character

You know they shifted the focus to one character at a time in season two on purpose as the season one eps that followed one character were the best received... And you know how well season 2 was received!

I was weirded out by this episode to a large extent. However, as always, laugh out loud moments a plenty and the two monologues were sublime.

Yeah no matter how good a single character episode is, I always feel like it's some kind of production / budget /schedule shortcut and I cant shake that from my head

I wasnt a fan of the episode, i was looking for the episode to end.

The scene with Kevin and the woman at the end was amazing tho.

Neither does DL I think. He's just trying to set up cheap emotion grabs, like the Lost finale.

Really compelling episode - dialogue good throughout.

I really hope Lindehof explains things and doesn't have another Lost fiasco

Pretty sure that people in this camp are going to be extremely disappointed 5 weeks from now.

And you won't have anyone to blame but yourself, really. DL has made his storytelling style crystal clear by now.

If we knew if Sr.'S voices were in head or coming from the Hotel, we'd know how delusional he is. I think the song line **** is just hin seeing **** that isn't there, but it did end him up at the house. He def seems crazy though, and didn't remember speaking to Kevo Jr at the hotel. If he had, he would have known that he could chill

believe KGS said that the last thing the voices told him was to go to Australia. so it seems like everything has been him running around looking for signs and assigning meaning to things (like The Millerites from the season opening).

from last week they quickly explained how the women had knowledge of the Book of Kevin, wonder if we'll just as quickly get some explanation for the hotel communication. i was willing to write that off as a hallucination on Junior's part maybe, but ya Senior offered some confirmation this week.

Seems confirmed that that hotel scene happened in one way or another. From the style of this series I'm anticipating a non-conclusive, satisfying ending. Whatever that might look like.

I think there's still some wiggle room for a more plausible explanation. Something like Kevin Sr. calling Jr. in Jarden while tripping on "God's tongue" in Perth - and then Jr's subconscious recalls that experience during his coma dream in the hotel.

I wasn't really looking forward to having a Kevin Sr-centric episode at all, but somehow even that worked for me. Not my favorite episode ever, but it was certainly well done. A couple of really funny moments as well. The dude from Crocodile Dundee was epic.

Really looking forward to next Sunday

in regard to supernatural things happening on the show - would you guys say that roulette scene with the bird and painting was supernatural?

Scott Glenn was freaking epic in this episode. Deserves an emmy nom for this one ep. alone. Felt almost like a one-act play but it worked for me. The story Grace told was heartbreaking and I didn't see the part about her children coming at all. She gave a great performance as well.

don't think so, no.

but certain ppl seem to have special powers, like the Garveys perhaps.
maybe Junior can't die, or maybe he's just running like god in that regard, so to speak.
maybe Senior is getting orders from other worlds/dimensions, and can communicate across them himself. or maybe he's just insane.

were Isaac's palm-reading skills legit? he knew what Meg's conversation with her mom, and maybe about Evie disappearing (though it's very possible he just got lucky on that one). not sure how else he'd know the walnuts thing, seems unlikely Meg would have posted about it on social media or something.

and Virgil seemed to have powers. for one he knew about Junior (and Patti), and Nora, as soon as he met them. two he claimed to to have crossed over hotelworld himself, and also helped pillarman do the same. could be lying about the latter, but we haven't been shown anything that would indicate that is the case.

show seemed to be saying that Patti didn't have any special abilities, she was just chicken little with the whole world is ending thing and something she could point to finally happened.

still unclear if Wayne had any special powers. seems like no, but we shall see if they do anything with that. re-watched "Guest" not too long ago and it struck me how generic his pitch to Nora was.

anything else that is hard to explain away?

I agree. That was one of my favorite scenes of the series and an overall great episode.

As these complications spin out, I'm starting to get a bad Lost vibe.

That deteriorated quickly - the opening credits song kind of foreshadowed that though. I wonder if that's that for Kevin/Nora? This episode + the flash forward makes me think yes.

Also, just to be clear, the guy who lit himself on fire last week answered that he wouldn't kill the baby, yes? And that's why they rejected him. So - did they sense Nora was lying? Do we, as the audience, think she was lying? (I do) Was the baby at the bus stop thing a test? Why does that twin baby trolley problem even matter? Questions abound.

I don't like what their doing with the opening credits music.

Also, I've never had a Lost vibe with this show. It probably helps that I didn't know Damon Lindelof was a creator of both series until I finished marathoning the first two seasons.
