ya i expected more of a reaction as well, but i guess it speaks to her mindset by that point of the episode. just as she tries to erase the memory of her children (and her identity as Nora Cursed? she only ever managed that briefly in S1's "Guest") with the Wu tat she gets that bizarre offer from Cousin Larry to reunite with them. the automated kiosks, etc don't recognize her existence either, and the one forces her to confront the memory of her children. Lily doesn't know who she is, and Tommy tells her to stay away from her. Nora blames Tommy for that wound, he counters that it had nothing to do with her, he didn't know she existed. her brother is kind of crazy. Cousin Larry kinda scoffs at her "committed relationship", and when she returns to that Kevin has a bag taped over her head. but that's about all she's got. she got fairly beat down during that hour.

Kevin in that scene looked the way Nora must have felt.

Yeah I think Nora realized that she is completely effed up in her own way, and so she had no right to say anything about whatever weird things Kevin was doing to try and keep his own equilibrium.

Next week's episode looks to be all about Kevin Sr. in Australia - looks like it's gonna be a trip.

or maybe Kevin? He keeps coming back from the dead, seems like a good candidate to cross over and see where all the departed went.

Epic show is epic. Outstanding episode imo. The wu-tang/trampoline scene especially was insane. This show makes me feel more emo AND it makes me laugh harder than any other show.

The problem with this show is that after I watch it everything else is garbage.

I'm crazy hot for this Carrie **** actress who plays Nora, not just her milfy body either.

possibly related: think Australian Kevin's license plate (his truck, that hit the kangaroo) was "[3 letters] 666"

also, those old broads gave me a Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse vibe

The final act in Australia was present time. After he shoots the kangaroo, it cuts to inside the station where the weatherman on TV mentions the 7th anniversary of 10/14 coming up.

hmm, ya good point

but those ladies seemed to be quoting "Book of Kevin" scripture, which then might suggest time travel / parallel universe type stuff*
(the latter could explain The Departure)

which could mean this radiation device thing is legit ... ?

* - or just that there are more ppl in present time with supernatural powers, etc

jfc how are they gonna finish this in 6 eps? lol

I guess maybe the ladies weren't quoting the book. Could be a little prophecy going on by Kev's dad or someone. Please, no time travel though. I hate time travel. Such a crutch.

too bad this is the last season and we will probably not get any episodes set in the existence where people went after departure. we could.... but I doubt it in the next 6 episodes

Haven't the writers/producers already flat-out said that we're not going to learn where the Departed went?

yes but I think it had been kept inside spoilers until your post

If you've ever expected to get some sort of resolution to the whole departure thing you've clearly watched a completely different show than I have. I don't think it's a spoiler at all, seems incredibly clear this show isn't about what happened (scientifically) at all. So I wouldn't expect to learn where the departed went either.

my point was if this show was to go 5 or 6 seasons, they could perhaps examine it (where people went), without changing the total point of the show. With just 6 episodes left, and
Spoiler:
with what the creators of the show said (that it wouldn't be shown/answered)
, there isn't time. It also might detract from the intent of the show, because it is just 3 seasons. And agreed that it isn't necessary, but it could be interesting nonetheless.

That has been known since S1.

I'd be fairly stunned if time travel came into the mix here, but I don't rule it out mostly because of how DL has talked about s3 in interviews with them taking risks, etc. And also because it's pretty hard to reconcile the last scene in episode 2 if that is indeed present timeline, because even if Matt had corresponded with Kevin Sr. and passed along the Book of Kevin, it'd still be too soon for there to be followers of this nature, who for some reason, already suspect that Kevin is in Australia and is much older.

I also think that the "Does the name Kevin mean anything to you?" nun from the future Nora scene is probably part of the same group who drowned that older fake Kevin, maybe?

I feel like the radiation thing probably isn't legit (or if it is, it won't be too relevant to what happens in the end game). It seems more to me like a plot device to get them to Australia where Kevin Sr. already is. Sort of how like in s2 people started speculating about the MIT guys who bought Nora's house, when really it was just a plot device to get Nora $3m to be able to buy a house in Jarden. Also for the radiation machine to be part of the larger plan, that would almost necessarily mean that an official, scientific explanation for The Departure would be revealed and that ain't happening.

He actually said 10/15 since it was the next day in Oz already when the departure happened. I thought it was cool they got that detail right. But yes, he said 7th anniversary.

All religions have a beginning, the specifics of which are lost in time, and they often focus on one individual. But, if the religion survives and thrives, stories are created to fill in whatever people need to be filled in.

We could be seeing the true beginnings of Kevinanity. And we might learn that the future world believes Kevinanity is something different (probably with a more sanitized and self-assured savior).

Great episode, amazed at how they were able to tie up the Australian Kevin story line, never saw that coming.

As usual the Sepinwall review is really helpful: http://uproxx.com/sepinwall/the-left...ecap-review/3/

Spoiler:
Great point Sepinwall made: the scene of Kevin Sr. talking to his son in the purgatory hotel while on drugs seems to be one of the few non-departure events that are (almost) definitely supernatural. I don't expect to get an explanation for this, but interested to see if this ever gets mentioned again.

What a tremendously well acted ep.

I gotta not read the leftovers reddit tho, too much theorising and working **** out. It's interesting stuff to read but think I'll just go on a blackout and enjoy it as it comes.

I wouldn't say I disliked the last 2 episodes but I'm ready to get back to moving the story forward in entirety. I'm not a big fan of episodes (in any show) that focus on just 1 character

from the sepinwall article:

Spoiler:
* The man who burns himself and his VW bug while Kevin Sr. helpessly watches isn’t explained here, except as one more ordeal preventing Kevin from getting where he needs to be, but he seems torn up over the idea that “they didn’t take me” — whoever “they” are — after he apparently answered a question about whether he would kill a baby if it would cure cancer (like Kevin, he wouldn’t).

Spoiler:
I think the guy wanted the radiation treatment and failed their psychological testing so he didn't get "taken" by them. The question he brought up about killing a baby was one of the things they asked him
