But maybe she's mad at Erika at that point a little bit too, not for any good reason of course, but because Nora moved all this way to try and get rid of her baggage and now her next door neighbor has a child who might have departed. Talk about hitting the nail on the head in terms of reopening old wounds.

When Erika throws the rock back, I take it as basically a direct F U. Erika knows at that point that Nora's children departed and also that Nora is trying to suppress her own guilt about their disappearance. But this shared grief wasn't met with sympathy from Nora, it was met with scorn - which Erika throws back in Nora's face with the "What was the last thing your children said....to the best of your recollection?", sort of a 'see? how do you like it?' type moment.

Nora has tried to put her guilt completely behind her, but between the crackpot scientists and the DSD guy, she's constantly being told during the episode that 'ya, maybe you did have something to do with it!' She tried to leave all her guilt and fear back in Mapleton, but it's all coming back. More than anything, she wants to know FOR SURE that her family disappearing wasn't her fault. The fact that the scientists turn out to be crackpots comes as a huge relief to her. She laughs and hangs up the phone. But then the DSD guy gets her wheels spinning again at the fundraiser with his "really? cause the DSD is taking some of that stuff seriously" comment. You can see how Nora reacts. Now she's feeling fearful and guilty again and she sorta takes it out on Erika, determined to show that Evie didn't actually depart. And lo and behold, it turns out that Erika is convinced not only that Evie departed, but that she's responsible for it.

In short, Nora is basically trying to deny the very same emotions (guilt, and probably irrational guilt, over the disappearance of a child) that Erika is feeling. Instead of these emotions bringing them closer together, Nora scolds Erika as if she's scolding herself (I read one review that astutely points out how the tighter and tighter shots in that scene eventually become Nora just looking directly at the camera, as if looking into a mirror). The scene is absolutely worth watching again.

And so, they now resent each other by episode's end.
Yes I too read sepinwalls review and sure that could all be true but its a lot of speculation and reading into the scene. Wasnt sure if there was anything more concrete.

I hate them, I want John to get the sht kicked out of him. Once we find out why he is so angry towards the extra ordinary people like his old friend it might change my view.

The wife comes off like a btch but that probably has more to do with her daughter departing.

Great season with some great scenes. I really like Garvey telling Nora about the 'ghost'.

Seems like its likely to get renewed as DL apparently mentioned in an interview that its supposed to be a 5 season series and HBO already asked for what happens in Season 3 and where it takes place.

I have a strong feeling we still won't understand **** by the end of season 5.

Think about it, it'd be even more infurating than the show getting canned after this season!

I really don't know what to make of the rock throwing. It all seems kind of childish if it's just not agreeing on things. And Nora threw the rock through their window, then went to their fund raiser later. Weird.

Yeah I wasn't really sure why Nora threw the rock. I assumed it was just a moment of weakness and she was taking out her anger at her new location not being free from risk of recurrent departures and they were the closest / most obvious target. That reaction was her primitive / childish reaction. She later tried to be an "adult" about things by going to the fundraiser.

I'm still confused by the dialogue between Nora and Erika and why it resulted in them being so angry at each other. I mean Erika asked Nora to administer the questions. Yeah Nora putting down Erika's concerns about being responsible was a bit mean but not to the point of crying and throwing rocks through each others' windows.

I think Nora wanted confirmation of her belief that a person cannot be the cause of a departure. When Erika had a conflicting theory, it forced Nora to confront the fact that she could be responsible for her family's departure.

Just had a thought, do you guys think that Mrs. Harvey's son hugged his mom when he first saw her after the fire and then took her pain away with his newfound power from Wayne? Maybe that's why she so abruptly left the Guilty Remnant?

Theory One - The old man blames Kevin for what happened to his grand daughter.

Theory Two - He's going to be Kevin's guide.

Yeah I realized afterward that perhaps the palm print resulted and somehow the old man now thinks Kevin killed his grand-daughter. The calm reaction of the old man's grandson makes me think that something like this has happened before though?

Anyway I hope he's going to be Kevin's guide because otherwise this show took a ****ing awful turn.
Spoiler:
I mean Kevin's the best character on the show wtf?

Not just the palm, but he might have put it together that Kevin showed up sleep walking and ready to do crazy **** the same night the girl disappeared, in the same spot.

Maybe more about being a guide though because the kid did seem to know what he was going to do.

These episodes are great, some really intense scenes. You can see something leave Kevin when the grandson is dragging him away, not sure how he survives but he will some how. I don't think the grandfather did all this because he thinks Kevin is responsible for Evie going missing.

I think Kevins son actually has the powers of healing, when Laurie was talking to Kevin about their con, I think she was going to say Tommy believe he can heal. She is a shrink so she doesn't believe in that stuff or that Kevin really sees people.

I am a bit surprised that Nora left Kevin.

I was thinking Nora left him because she is now thinking maybe she is a "lens" and she does t want to hurt him or his daughter, and she is just using Kevin's issues as an excuse.
