could have easily yada yada'd a lot of that ep with some kind of musical montage

More progressing, less backstorying please. Especially since it's so predictable that everyone they meet will die.

Once I realized this show was a backstory ep, it was just a waiting game for ok Riley gets bitten/dies, Ellie kills someone, and is probably bitten too.

I thought it was really good but I’d like to have had more of the other half of the Left Behind DLC. Or at least more of her going out of her way to find something for Joel.

As it was, they nailed the hell out of the mall section. They certainly could have yada yada’d most of that but I’m glad they didn’t.

I'm not even one who demands major plot advancement every episode - still love episode three - but this one just didn't do much for me. Didn't feel like there were any stakes, the foreshadowing as to how everything was going to play out was pretty ham-fisted, and I feel like we could have correctly assumed all it filled in about Ellie's character motivations. Was difficult to really get invested in anything that was going on.

Idk, I liked it. I was originally very critical of this show because I wasn't a fan of the first two eps at all, but the show has slowly won me over. I liked how they didn't show how the Riley/Ellie saga played out after they got bit, I mean it's kind of obvious but we didn't really need to see that.

Bella Ramsey is a great actress, I don't get why some people are complaining about her.

My only gripe with the ep is that their usage of "Take on me" was a blatant ripoff of how it was utilized in the GOAT (Leftovers S3E4).

Even though I knew they were only introducing Rue's sister to break our hearts and have her die anyways, still got attached to her. Was a decent enough episode but yet another Black Mirror vibe where you walk away with bad feels.

Not a "bad" episode but definitely the weakest so far for me

“Take on Me” is a pretty powerfully used song in part 2 of the video game. I’m guessing it was a nod at that more than anything.

Subbing - just binged 1-7.

Sticking with it because I love zombie apocalypse shows.

Characters finally growing on me

Show has been up and down for me with the most recent episode being the weakest. That was a 60 minute bore fest that could have been handled in a 10 minute flashback scene. It's fine and I will keep watching, but not nearly as good as I was expecting.

It would have been a much better episode 2

I'm quite glad it was placed here instead of episode 2. Came out of episode 1 thinking it seemed just good enough to continue with the series. Imagine I would have just bagged it if that had been the episode 2 offering. As is, they have some good will to burn through.

Fifteen minutes in my wife and I were bored enough and things were obvious enough that we decided to make over/under time of episode predictions on (1) when they'd kiss, and (2) when they'd get bit. I lost both bets, and an hour on an episode that was paint by numbers.

the game of contrast. slow episode followed by action in the last two (i hope)

I'll say I didn't think it was a 100% lock that they would kiss, it seemed like a live possibility that her friend would reject her inevitable advance given Ellie raging at Joel before about how everyone she's ever cared about has left her.

For the life of me I don't understand why they showed the infected somewhere else in the mall activating before later appearing. They had already left breadcrumbs with "that place is crawling with infected, isn't it?" The full-on confirmation of "let there be no question: that's where we're headed with this" just seemed odd.

Weakest episode yet, without a doubt. Next two should hopefully be bangers.

seemed to me it was something symbolic about the sound of them having fun while playing mortalIIkombat that woke it up, but i agree it was an odd scene.

It was more than that - Ellie told Tess that she was bitten while exploring an off-limits mall.

Thought episode 7 was good but also understand the complaints. It's definitely sort of a long drawn out cliffhanger considering Joel's condition and how episode 6 left off the story. That's not really much of a problem for the people that played the game as we most likely know how this story is headed as they seem to be following a similar path of the game but for people that never played the game I could see how episode 7 seems drawn out. I'm expecting the last two episodes to follow the ending of the first game which should be quite good. Time will tell.

i didnt mind the last epiosode, maybe it could have been placed somewhere else as mentioned above like the 2nd or 3rd episode maybe, was a been drawn out considering how ep6 left and and how ep7 left us , it didnt really get far.

maybe this is the intention of the makers to have this 7 series long ?

overall i quiet enjoy this show now , this and snowfall are all im eager to see lately

Can't quite pinpoint why I liked the Ep3 flashback episode so much more than this one, considering neither really moved the storyline along at all.

I feel like we never got a true sense of the relationship between Ellie and Riley. In ep3 we saw Bill and Frank's romance grow from their first meeting and the passing of years gave it some weight. Whereas the Riley character just kind of showed up and we had to imagine their backstory and prior relationship.

I am glad the show tries episodes like this though, even if they don't all work perfectly.

It’s because there are very few actors/actresses under 25 who can carry a 60 minute character episode.
