yeah what really sold it for me that she's SMART is how she executed a doctor for no good reason (when you're running a militia in a post-apocalyptic world who needs doctors am i right) and ignored what looks to be a fresh zombie outbreak in the area to chase some black kids around the city for some reason(??). totally believe that this insane militia would be following this weird baby-talking woman ( am i gonna have to schwoot you in the fwace? ), didn't take me out of the show at all, no sir

and while i haven't played these games, this whole thing gave me big "conscripted into a ~pointless annoying side quest that you just want to end yesterday" vibes which is a staple of this genre ugh. don't care about any of this ****...

Wasn't a fan of Melanie in episode 4. I thought she was great in yellow jackets I just don't believe her in this. The episode was great overall though

but if it makes you feel better dom, the fault is probably with the ppl who made this show rather than lynskey or ramsey, who are probably just doing what they're told and were hired to do.

the overall negative vibe you bring in most of your posts is probably the problem. Atleast in your recent post you critiqued why you didn't agree with her casting or her character but we've still only seen her for maybe less than 10 minutes screen time overall and don't know the story of her or her group. Maybe give something a bit more chance to develop until you totally dismiss it as something awful.

Also, in regards to the actress Bella Ramsey. I also wasn't sure on her based on her first episode performance but I think most would say she has done a wonderful job so far in her part overall. It's fine that you disagree but at this point I'd say you are in the heavy minority.

So at this point if you don't like the show don't watch it. Nobody will care the less but some actually enjoy the show and aren't overly critical so let them enjoy the show without as Dom said the useless snark.

That was great acting and a great episode but nothing in that episode advanced the overall plot outside of the Joel and Eli narrative. In the game Joel and Elie actually interact with Bill and we learn about Frank through narrative, etc. I think the problem many non gamers and maybe even gamers alike have with the episode is that nothing there really changed anything on the arc of Joel and Ellie.

I think it's really cool that people that have never played the games love that episode but again overall I mostly understand the point of what the f' is this with a whole episode of these two characters that just die in the end.

Watched this show just because I heard Offerman was in it. I haven't played the games and didn't know anything else about it. Had to sit through two rather standard zombie apocalypse episodes to get to the Offerman episode, which was pretty good and worth the wait. Then episode 4 was just complete nonsense for reasons 72off mentioned. I won't be wasting anymore of my time with this hackey ****.

Meanwhile: episode 5 is out on that old service we're all switching back to now that Netflix doesn't allow password sharing.

It had a 9.9 a day after airing then was review bombed with a lot of 1s by thousands of bigoted morons.

Goddamn that episode was phenomenal!! They did that short arc beautifully!!

so everyone they meet just dies. I kinda like it.

Never played the games, but was a big fan of Pedro and Bella from their spots in GOT.

First two episodes I felt were fantastic, all the supporting cast seemed very solid, great acting all around.

Episode three I felt was a little long-in-the-tooth. You could likely have Bills story arc done in 15-20 minutes rather than sidelining the main characters for something like 90% of the episode to tell a story of side characters we'll never see again. I get there's a message of finding something in the **** of a world to care about, but I don't think you need the entirety of the episode to get that across to the viewer.

Episodes four and five I really didn't like the leader of the resistance. I just don't see a bunch of dudes in an apocalypse taking orders from this Karen-style chick who wants to speak with the manager of FEDRA. She didn't strike me as intimidating, or tactically minded, just overly vindictive and unhinged. Making it even that much harder to believe everyone is just going to fall in line behind her and give her carte blanche to make every decision and the resistance is just going to spend all day everyday doing a building-by-building search for over a week looking for these guys and no one's gonna stand up to the Karen in charge and be like "hey, maybe we should focus on **** that actually matters right now?"

The effects for the infected continue to impress, that infected doing all those acrobatics in the truck trying to get at Ellie was creepy as hell.

Will continue watching, but feel like the first two episodes have been the strongest and it's falling off since then

Ep 3 > Ep 5 > Ep 2 > Ep 1 > Ep 4 IMO. Liked the most recent episode a lot.

I understand that there are good-faith criticisms about Ep 3, but I personally just don’t need every episode to center on major plot advancement. The creators produced a beautiful piece of art without materially straying from their universe, even though they strayed from their main characters for the majority of that episode. I loved it. But I’m also a viewer for whom the zombies aren’t really a draw, but more just a plot device I’m fine with whenever the creators see fit to use them. And I suppose it likely also helped me that the attachment to the Joel/Ellie relationship has been a slow burn and that I wasn’t as in on them then as I am now.

Episode 5 was the best by far.

I think I agree. From the looks of it, a reverse order might be appropriate when the show finishes. I’m just going to call it a 10 hour movie and leave it at that lol

Think i agree with that loving the show but for some reason episode 4 had me looking at my phone bored while the rest had me hooked. Never played the game but know HBO rarely/never disappoints so was enough of a reason to pick it up.

The Rock sized zombie at the end would be called a "bloater". The evolution is "runner", to "clicker", and then eventually you can become a "bloater" if you are infected long enough so that bad boy was probably infected for a very long time.

They also split your head open in the game if one kills you so that was sort of fun to actually see it rip that guys head off in the show

E5 was great. Well-paced and well acted, although....

Show is depressing. Gives me the same vibes as Black Mirror did where you walk away after an episode with just an overall bad feeling. That being said, I can't stop watching it.

Loving the show so far. As stated above, love the short arc.

The dialogued/scenes lifted directly from the game are great.

You cant appease everyone though.
