I heard that after the first couple they move more away from video game and more into show, but I forget how many episodes the reviewer had seen (at least 3 but I think more)

A lot of reviewers got all 9, which is crazy to me. The few I watch/read that did all loved it and were all gamers. Haven’t heard anything from non-gamers who’ve seen all 9.

I like the show so far. I will continue to watch. HBO is almost always good, if not great. This is better than 98% of other shows on air right now.

I played the game and thought it was pretty good. Don't really know why its the second coming of jesus christ among gamers though.

I was lukewarm on the premiere, but the second episode was fantastic imo.

Never played the game, is Ellie super annoying/unlikeable in that?

They got rid of the most likeable character in ep. 1 and I almost quit. They wouldn't do that again, right? The watched ep 2. Oops. Best actor gone. Will still slog through ep 3 but not thrilled.

I couldn't stand her in the pilot but I think she got a little better in the second.

I don’t remember my initial reaction to Ellie when she’s introduced in the game. Ashley Johnson has much softer delivery so I’m pretty sure it was fine. The situation she’s introduced in warranted the attitude.

I’m 100% Ride or Die with Ellie and honestly, we’ve barely scratched the surface of her yet. I like the way Bella is playing it so far, but the real tests are a ways away.

Murray Bartlett is a great actor. Armond in White Lotus, then Nick in Welcome To Chippendales, and this episode of Last Of Us. He was also really good in Physical on Apple TV.

I love how this show has been structured so far...like the Indonesian mycologist at the beginning of ep. 2, and now this in ep. 3.

I see Annie Wersching died today, she played Tess in the video game (I never played it).

That was everything I’d hoped for and more. And also less though the “less” we have in the game. Ellie and Bill arguing would’ve made for some great scenes but I think they went the better route.

And episode 4 is where **** goes off!!! Can’t wait!!!

Definitely a different arc in the relationship between Bill and Frank in the show compared to the game. Bill was such a prick in the game and one of the funniest parts that I found in a recent play through was the note that Frank left for him. Also as fun as it was to play through parts with Bill in the game and see his interactions with Ellie I also agree the show did it in a better way overall.

That was a good episode and the show is setting up nicely so far. Only thing that sucks is the HBO thing of having to wait every week for a new episode to air. I'd rather binge a show like this one.

I thought it was great but from all the reviews pre-airing I thought this was going to be like Ozymandias 2.0, best television episode of the decade sort of great

Yes, please. Drop the storytelling and up the zombie attacks. That won't get tired at all . The gay stuff wasn't forced in either. It was a part of Bill's story in the game but it plays out quite differently on tv.

For anyone who doesn't have the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone, here is how their story played out in the game. (From Last of us Wiki).

Frank lived in Lincoln with Bill. The pair survived in the town for nearly twenty years together, fortifying it against infected attacks and ensuring rogue survivors did not enter the town. Bill described Frank as his former partner, someone that he cared about. Despite this, Frank grew tired of Bill's methods of surviving. Because of this, he left Bill, stealing many supplies and a car battery from a military truck at the high school on the way to the truck at his hideout. On the way back, Frank was bitten several times by a horde of infected.

He hanged himself in his house so as to not succumb to the Cordyceps brain infection. Frank left a note for Bill telling him how he "hated his guts", growing tired of Bill's ways and how he managed the town.

After looting the area, Joel gave the note to Bill. Bill read it, disheartened at Frank's words but kept up his bravado to get Joel and Ellie out of "his" town. Joel apologized for this after they got the car started and wished him farewell, since Bill was now truly alone.

Finally a good ep after two duds. That was great.
