For me this show gets more laughs per minute than any other tv show on atm. Every episode so far has just been a riot.

Depends who he is directing it at. There have been plenty of reviewers, commentators and forum posters he has directed this at and it has not been a strawman in the slightest. The idea that it is completely scripted is a slight strawman, but the idea that Karl is a completely created character and is an actor (called Graham by some apparently) has definitely been made by a number of people.

Are you of the idea that all is not as it seems with Karl?

+1. No different to the radio shows/podcasts/audiobooks really, anything they produce is consistently more funny than virtually anything else on tv.

Generally an entertaining show but I find Gervais and Merchant incredibly annoying.

This would be a lot better if they had no part of it.

Also, it's pretty clear Pilkington is playing up to the role now, and while it's still entertaining it's beginning to feel a little contrived.

The best insight into the mind of Karl is to listen to the old XFM shows for the little contests. The clues and answers he comes up with are so convoluted and don't make sense.

They are responsible behind the entire show, it would not be a reality if it were not for them. They also are behind all the amusing things that happen to Karl (Ex: hostage training).

Obviously the podcasts and radio shows haven't taken off in Israel. There is no way anyone who knows who Pilkington is would have given him a pistol. That is a ****ing scary thought.

I am enjoying this show but I don't think Karl pulls off being a main character. He is so amazing on the XFM shows when he just pops in for a contest or white van man but on his own...I'm just not sold. Still entertaining show though.

Meh, I'm not getting how this is supposedly super awesome. It's entertaining enough for me but I hardly lol even once per episode. Karl makes observations that are mainly quite ordinary with some amusing ones mixed in. The idiot in the title is just to provoke and sell the show. I've considered myself a fan of Ricky (loved Extras, The Office) but in this he just tilts me and I'd smash his face in if given a chance (jk).

i enjoy the show. i laugh a few times per episode but don't consider it to be ridiculously funny.

i like the below image because i really enjoy it when ricky talks about how smart karl is (this was more common in the xfm days). nowadays it's just 'LOL HE HAS A HEAD LIKE A ****ING ORANGE WHAT A STUPID MANC TWONK' x1000, which gets tedious as hell.
