I like the mystery I don't need an answer for everything.

Since they were doing so many homages from the pilot episode, they really needed a 'fire in the hole!' when Boyd was throwing dynamite at the feds.

Ava dies or was that faked?

People were worried about them not being able to wrap up in 45 minutes...

The show was basically over at 35 minutes of run time, and they let everyone take a bow for about 23 minutes. All the good guys lived, and all the bad guys died, except the one we all loved most. The two people most in danger of dying the entire series (Ava and Wynn Duffy) rode off into the sunset. Was the Fiji line a reference to Point Break (feels familiar)?

There were only two things that felt forced to me:

1. Boyd shouldn't have been able to get down that mountain.
2. Raylan shouldn't have gotten to keep his job. I guess it's a good thing Art's an old softie and never let anyone know what happened. Vasquez just disappearing was quite funny when he wanted everyone's head on a platter.

I absolutely loved the staging of the car ram turning into the first part of the showdown. I think the big clue for everything was that Boon just wasn't a good shot (evidenced by the previous episode). It's easy to kill a defenseless person at point blank range, but he probably never got the opportunity to actually get in a gunfight with anyone as his talk was good enough to scare everyone off.

Based on the last scene, I think there was no chance Boyd or Raylan ever would have killed each other. They both had so many opportunities, and the final scene wrapped up why it never happened.

This truly is one of the best TV shows of all time, and I will really miss it. The good news is that Goggins is now released to do other stuff, and maybe Yost can go back and fix The Americans.

Faked. It was probably the paperwork for her original planned witness relocation or what she got from Limehouse (though I'm sure Boyd would have recognized the name if it were).

I liked where everything ended up from a character perspective and I thought it was a good finale overall but there were some issues. Boyd making an impossible escape off screen was just plain silly. Ava and Wynn's escape being relegated to 2 shots in the epilogue seemed like a waste. And I thought some of the call backs to the first season felt forced.

Overall it was a good finale and a great series.

Graham Yost interviewed post finale:

Overall, I was underwhelmed with the finale. Surprised everyone made it out of Harlan alive. I guess they did that for spin-off or movie potential? In that link they show Rachel working out of Seattle in the jump forward Miami office scene.

I just felt Raylan's recklessness throughout the series should have a cost, like when Art was shot the previous season. It was too happy an ending for hero and villain alike.

Also wonder if Sam Elliott made any extra bucks for Coors and Dodge Ram being prominently displayed in this episode?

I did love the touch of Loretta saving Raylan - and that she is the one criminal who ends up alive in Harlan

Totally agree - this finale was way better than Sopranos or Sons of Anarchy. Surprised the ratings weren't higher, I think this show will be much more appreciated down the road.

All,

Mixed feelings about the finale. Thought the first 30 minutes sped through wrapping everything up a little too quickly and conveniently. Definitely somewhat agree with sapo.

But overall there were enough good moments and can't really complain about the resolution for any of the characters.

sort of funny that nobody has mentioned this, but one reason they left everyone alive is to keep the possibility alive for future Justified content

They could easily spin off Boyd into a new show - they did that with Better Call Saul and that character wasn't nearly as good as Boyd.

The only issue I see is the tight connection between Boyd and Raylan - I'm not sure a show works without both of them.

Really enjoyed it. Loved this show and will miss it. Couple minor nitpicks:

Would've liked to see Wynn.

Would've been a nice touch if somehow we knew Ava owned everything that Raylan saw while he was there.

And I think I would've preferred Raylan/Winona ending up together. The "You're the most stubborn man I've ever met" - "That's better than angry, right" lines were nice though. They could have at least not had Winona end up with a total creeper looking dude.

Loved Art and Raylans last scene. As soon as he walked in the office I said to my wife, "just get the bourbon out Art" and he did not disappoint.

The earlier scene in the SUV where Art gives Raylan his gun and badge back and Raylan just smiles like a kid who just got his way was awesome too.

Closing scene with Boyd and Raylan was fantastic. Raylan even had me convinced Ava was dead.

I thought it was great. I love finales that do a time jump.

He got one last great Raylan/Boyd scene. Great dialogue and confirmed what we always thought that despite being on different sides of the law that there was an unspeakable bond there and some sort of mutual respect.

The Raylan/Boon draw was about as good as could be expected.

Ava resolution was pretty good. Don't really care how she got out of Harlan.

Raylan saying goodbye to Art and Tim was good and not overly dramatic.

Good resolution with Raylan and Winona and their daughter.

Only thing I could've asked for was a short scene showing where Duffy is now and a quick glance at Limehouse.

Winona's new husband was one of the stars of "Bosch" and was very creepy indeed!

Great, great ending, IMO. I read somewhere before the finale that it was worth re-watching the pilot, and I'm glad I did. I would have picked up on some of the callbacks (which I thought were subtle and natural), but not everything.

Definitely gonna miss this show. Can't wait to see what brilliance Walton Goggins does next.
