Marshals could have exercised caution when entering the room from their room. Checked the peephole, then engaged the idiot. After interactions with the idiot were over, they could exit into their original room to gather up their surveillance equipment and cut to a new scene. Would make a LOT more sense than what they did, and then the marshals don't look like careless bumbling idiots.
