this has been great to watch

after the first ep i was hooked and I really couldn't wait to see the next ep. it's the kind of thing you just want to marathon.

episode 5 was pretty much a bombshell (something I definitely wasn't expecting to happen, although I'm sure a 2 million dollar defense team would love a crack at it)

I loved when he was asked about being in California during the same time Susan Berman was murdered... he almost burst out laughing when he said "California is a big state"

Such a great reaction captured.

It's kind of depressing to see that the system failed over and over. Especially for the Mccormack family. Since no body was ever found the police seemingly just glossed over it.

I'm curious when the interview with Durst was conducted.
It's kind of laughable he wants to tell his side of the story. He killed his neighbor in "self-defense", chopped up the body, and threw it in Galveston Bay. But, he doesn't want people to jump to conclusions about him being involved in the murder of his wife.

Apparently, he did the commentary for the movie "All Good Things" if you're looking for more:

This is amazing...what a cliff-hanger for this last episode. That letter is pretty damning. Can't wait to see his reaction.

Still, it's all circumstantial. He can claim he showed up at her house and she was dead. He didn't want to leave Her like that, so he wrote the note to the police.

It'd be tough to prove otherwise.

Durst is seriously an enigma.

The crazy thing about the whole story is that he keeps getting away with it. So let's assume his billionaire dad helps him cover up his wife's murder in the early eighties. That case is way too cold now to prove anything even if they produce a body which ain't happening. The Texas case he's already been tried on. So the only opening the filmmaker has is the LA murder. While Durst is so egotistical to think Jarecki is his adversary, he's really the antagonist of this whole thing. Wild take here. But Durst seems invincible, so nothing will probably put this guy away unless they catch him red handed.

We'll see, but I highly doubt he takes responsibility for the note or says he was at her place.

Why do you think he is an enigma?

Never heard of him before binging the documentary, what a fascinating guy. Feels weird to route for him even though he's 100% guilty. Amazing show.

Regarding the potential spoiler news:

Spoiler:
Season 2 is going to be awesome when he beats this.

I watched the first two episodes and was tremendously bored. Episode 1 was like "hey, he chopped up his neighbor and threw him in the bay" and the previews indicated that he got away with it, but they took so ****ing long in the first two episodes to get to any details of any of the cases that I got sick of waiting.

That said, I saw the spoilered things above in the NYT today and it piqued my interest. Are the later episodes better at telling you why we should care about this guy at all?

yes. the first 2 episodes were the weakest imo. e1 was designed to confuse so you ask "wtf is going on" and e2 was just his childhoad iirc. the biggest "wow" moment was
Spoiler:
when his friend in LA gets murdered,
but its still worth watching even though you'll see that coming. the guy has been free with about 2.75 murders committed equity.

do you guys think there's going to be more damning evidence shown 2night, or the arrest was just based on the letter? i bet the filmmakers gave everything to the (3 different) police be4 it aired. this definitely makes for an interesting finale.

Hold on. Let me read it to you. Let me make sure I’m accurate. About the last episode: “It will be emotional and good for closure.”
