Jersey Shore Season 2: Taking their Talents to South Beach Jersey Shore Season 2: Taking their Talents to South Beach

Its weird because I remember when I started to watch jersey shore (first few episodes of season 1) it looked like ronnie was one of the more normal people in the house and that situation was the wacko crazy partier. As the season went on that slowly changed. Its all the more apparent this season just how wrong my first impression was.

Snooki is at least laid back and friendly, and throws out some good one-liners (miami and trannies hellloooooo). Angelina tries way to hard to be clever while coming off as incredibly unaware and cringe-worthy. She's officially reached the Kate Austen pantheon of holding the worst character on a show despite also being the hottest.

1) Pauly D
2) Situation

3) JWowww
4) Vinnie
5) Snookie

6) Ronnie
7) Sammie
8) Angelina

This could actually be a 24-hour channel. I'd love to see how the guido douchebag act played in Paris, London, Madrid, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Melbourne...

Next episode looks like the real action begins. Grenades, vinnie + snookie, jwoww kicking some ass.

I actually thought the funniest part of last episode was situation explaining the jwoww + angelina fight.

I'm grunching this thread. I've only seen a couple episodes of this show. Not my style, but a friend of mine wrote a facebook quote that made me LOL. "Pauly D and The Situation are the greatest duo since Hawk and Animal".

Towards the end of the episode, Situation mentioned that he paid for Angelina's drinks at the club. I find it surprising that MTV doesn't foot all the tabs.

I'm also surprised that they have to work at a boring Gelato shop while they all earn $10,000 per episode.

Pauly D and the Situation are lucky they were so incredible last season because so far this season neither has been remotely entertaining. so far this season they are on par with Vinny (which is not a good thing).

thats not fair to say. 1 episode of driving(basically doesnt count as a episode). then the second episode to build up all this tension. i expect them to fly past vinny in entertainment

right, that's why i said "so far." i know they are infinitely more entertaining than Vinny, we just haven't seen it this season "yet."

They aren't working the jobs to make money. Like 4-5 seasons into Real World MTV decided to make all the casts work a job. I think it was RW: Miami where they gave them money to start a business and they basically did nothing, so the following season they started giving them an actual job. I guess they have some reasoning for continuing it on RW (added drama, more cast interaction on a regular basis, or something like that) and they've kept that concept for JS.

i hate snookie. last season when she told situation at the dinner table that everyone hates him. no one likes him a couple times. he called her fat and everyone freaked out. just so tilting to watch.

Oh I'm aware it's not for money. But nothing interesting happened in the t-shirt shop last year. Retail jobs aren't that exciting to watch.

Well it's obviously to force them to do something other than just lay around the house. It's not ideal but it does make them interact with randoms, and introduce the possibility that they'll do something stupid like no-show or show up drunk or start having sex with a customer/employee or something else which makes for decent viewing which wouldn't happen laying around hungover.

The seeming problem with this particular setup is that unlike any season of RW or the previous season of this show, a lot of people know who they are now so it would seem likely that word would get out and a ton of randoms would show up and loiter and otherwise cause a scene in front of the cameras or be a nuisance to the shop. No doubt security is set up to minimize such a disturbance but it's still likely.

regarding endorsements (which was talked about previously ITT), my local city paper published a story on the Jersey Shore crew today...said that Sitch is making $4 million for the new supplements he promotes, just an interesting tidbit i thought id share

The stupid part about the jobs is that people get kicked off the show if they don't do the job or w/e. I guess they have to make sure they go but for example whatever Real World it was with that sociopath 'Prety' (the guy who wanted to be a runway model and twirled his shirt around and called people peasants) was significantly worse when he got kicked off. And then the guy with the lip ring on the Cabo RW got kicked off too for being too hungover even though he was the only entertaining cast member. Would be epic ghey if Situation or JWoww got kicked off for missing work or something, if that even applies in JS.

How is that a problem? That's awesome TV.

The jobs are there for the same reason the house doesn't have a TV or computer. It keeps the cast from getting lazy and apathetic.

Situation being horribly underrated in these power rankings. Pauly D is the perfect sidekick but there is no show without the Situation.

It's not a problem for us, it's a potential problem for someone looking to run a business which employs famewhores. Not that he didn't know this going in though.

It's also entertaining to a point - if people are crashing the place to get on TV it will get old quickly. I think it was RW San Diego, it seemed fairly common for randoms to pick fights at bars with the cast members. And while it's really hard to feel sorry for these people it would get kinda old if drunk dickheads repeatedly see the camera lights and decide to start something. It's basically the reality show equivalent of yelling GET IN THE HOLE at a golf tournament.

Situation will finish the season on top. Pauly D has had some much better one-liners so far though.

Are they not allowed to have cellphones on JS as well? I can't remember seeing anyone using one this season, and would wonder why they'd bother using the duck phone if they did have cells.

It was weird, last year Angelina had one before she got kicked out, but of course there was the duck phone as well. I miss the duck phone, it should have came back
