the reveal and ending was cool. The cameo timeline parallel with the gang was good. But most of the storyline seemed wasted like it was intentionally boring to make the reveal payoff bigger.
seems like they could have still made the middle funny while maintaining the reveal.
highly doubt that's the last of Dennis ever, otherwise they would have just killed him off or something. at the very least he'll come back for an ep/storyline at some point in the future. they have at least 2 more seasons to come, so there's lots of time.
and if this other show he's working on doesn't get picked up he might just come back straight away for Season 13, whenever that happens.

They didn't kill him to leave it open and see how schedules work out. Howerton told Sepinwall it's up in the air. He disclosed that they are talking about an extra long break between seasons. I expect it will work out for Dennis to return.
the show just won't work without dennis, I don't think it works if any of them leave it's an all or nothing show with the way they've developed their chemistry.
It wouldn't be such a bad way to end the show here. A lot of things got wrapped up like Mac coming out and Charlie with the waitress and Dennis leaving. I mean the show's on a decline anyway and it's not like it's gonna come to an ending any better than this.
I'd have liked to find out if Dennis was an actual psychopath murderer though, or if he would have turned into one at least.

I slacked on watching the last four episodes except for the cricket episode they were really good I was LOLing. The first half of the season was lackluster especially the singing black people episode
From what I read, he had his own show called AP Bio on NBC. The gang filmed the season without him and then when or if he returned they filmed the parts with him afterwards. Or maybe it was just a gag. He was supposed to leave for North Dakota at the end of last season.
