The madness starts tonight!

Seems like most fans have liked the last few seasons more than myself, but even at their low points they still have their moments and hilarious episodes.

Tonight's episode was written by the classic team of Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton & Rob McElhenney, and directed by Matt Shakman who has done a crapload of eps going back to Season 3, so it could be a good one.

I thought it was going to be awesome after seeing the cold open and then... yeah. Totally wasted potential with the silly musical bits. Body-obsessed Dennis becomes a fat black kid and then they didn't address that at all... etc.

Overall, I'd say I liked it, but they definitely missed out on some good stuff. No way they shouldn't have talked more about Dennis being fat or their shapes.

I don't mind a singing episode...some of their best have been half musicals. They have to mix it up after being on air for 11 seasons.

You can have great singing episodes (the nightman cometh is one of the funniest episodes of tv), but this was so, so bad. It actually pisses me off how bad this episode was.

only time I laughed was when charlie got shot that was legit hilarious.
rest of the ep was not good.

when I saw the cold open n ep title I was really excited.
huge let down.

charlie was pretty good most of the episode.

frank seemed like he didn't know the words or moves, he was always a half step behind and it seemed lazy acting. He's normally my favorite.

fat dennis didn't notice he was fat was kind of weird.

coulda done without the cop shooting. heading towards south park territory here.

not too many incredible moments, felt like there were enough laughs sprinkled in though

the Charlie interrogation scene was tops for me

I enjoyed it more on the 2nd watch. Obviously not one of their best episodes ( I feel like the gang turns black sans musical element would have been better). But overall I think it was stronger than last seasons opener.

Agree on Charlies interrogation scene being the best, but my favourite line was:

"WE'RE CHURCH BLACKS!"

First episode was pretty meh. I thought the musical aspect held it back, they could have done a lot more funny stuff if they didn't try to tie into that so much. It wasn't THAT terrible though, but certainly not great.

Water park episode was classic Sunny, many of the funniest moments were pretty predictable but still funny.

ya that was alright. stereotypical sort of IASIP, very random and inconsequential storyline. wasn't amazing, but had a few laughs in it. was smart to run that kind of episode after the opener.

think those are pretty much all classics. in fact, i think everything from the first 5 seasons or so is great, almost not a bad ep in there. all the worst stuff is probably from the last 5 seasons. a few good choices at the top of the list, but still not enough. far too much love for some of the recent work imo.
