Looks like "regular" play with new contestants won't resume until the strike is over.

Questions are a combination of unused clues from the past, new clues that were written before the strike and recycled clues from previous seasons.

Looks like regular play won't resume til April? Not a huge fan of that.

FWIW, today's FJ was clearly a new clue. Must have been written in preparation for season 40 before the strike.

Champions Wild Card -- all players have won at least a game, many of them showed a fair amount of promise. Winner moves on in the tournament, no cash value for 1st place, losers both get the same amount based on whatever round it is (ie, come in 2nd or 3rd in R1 = both of them get $5k).

Scores going into FJ!:

Podium A: $6,000
Podium B: $23,200
Podium C: $14,200

Podium A goes all-in and misses.
Podium C is up next, gets it right and... $0 wager.
Podium B is up, misses, wagers the standard $5201 to cover.

Podium B wins.

It's 100% tournaments during the strike. All players from past seasons. Currently all players who were winners during their seasons who did not qualify to their TOC.

6 months of recycled clues/players seems kinda brutal, wonder if it'll harm viewership.

This is old and I'm not sure whether it was talked about or not, but I had a couple month stretch of old episodes that I missed and I'm catching up on now, and I just wanted to make a comment about how ****ing awful Mayim is at hosting this show:

So this is Ben Chan's losing game from back in May, where he missed the Shakespeare triple-stumper FJ due to a single letter misspelling of one of the names. If this happened with Alex or Ken (or ****ing Aaron Rodgers or literally anyone else) hosting, the response undoubtedly would have been explanatory and empathetic, something like "Ben you were so close but it's actually Benedick with a k, as you know, by rule any wrong consonant means we can't accept it, I'm so sorry..." etc.

Mayim's actual response, on the other hand, was the most robotic thing I've ever heard. "You wrote...who are Beatrice and Benedict?" [awkward pause] "I'm sorry, the correct answer is who are Beatrice and Benedick, from Much Ado About Nothing. Let's see what you wagered." She said it in the same tone of voice as if he had written "who are Romeo and Juliet" or some other completely different characters. Zero explanation or acknowledgement of the situation. I can't get over how bad she is at this.

Clue: Comic Trevor Noah’s biracial background proved that this system designed to keep races separate in South Africa just didn’t work

ok that's a bit more forgiveable

still love how they phrased it - apartheid was proven wrong because one black person and one white person banged at some point

In yesterday's Celebrity Jeopardy, WWE wrestler Becky became the first player in J! history without a single correct response through the Double Jeopardy round.

Kinda impressive.

What was her score after DJ?

Surprised she agreed to be on it. Surely she should have been somewhat aware of how it would go.

-2500 IIRC.

I know she got back "up" to -500 at the end of Triple Jeopardy by getting two correct answers there. She also got Final Jeopardy right.

Mayim Bialik is out as host of the syndicated J! version, not sure about prime time though.

This. I don't hate her (much) but let her host Celebrity Jeopardy where she knows about as much as the contestants do. Ken is so perfect at the little side comments and context around the answers that Mayim just doesn't know at all, or at least isn't capable/confident/quick enough to show she does.

Was up late (for me) last night and caught a bit of Colbert. One of his headlines was that Bialik was fired (maybe a rerun?).

Anyway, he said the sad thing was she found out by this clue:

"The person who is not going to be hosting Jeopardy! any longer."
