Idiotic Jeopardy wagers (no spoilers before 6 EST) - Page 512

According to the reddit, the contestant mistakenly thought that the wager had to at least equal the clue. At least the contestants offer an explanation, but the mistakes have been astounding lately, these people study trivia for hours/days/years, you think they would take 10 minutes to learn wagering strategy.

And spend a few minutes reading the rules , it's hard to believe anyone who is a returning champion on Jeopardy doesn't know how much they're allowed to bet

If you look at how many NFL players have admitted after a draw that they didn't even know that was a possibility..

From a global point of view, 1789 was a significantly more important revolution than 1776.

The answer is still pretty stupid but because of Thomas Paine and not because of revolutionary year.

The current champ might be able to make a boatload of money if he starts getting FJ right. The fact that he's 10/10 on DD and 1/4 on FJ suggests that it's mostly variance.

If the second chance tournament is going to stay around, I’m very confident we found a participant today. Even though he made a terrible FJ wager.

One of the few games where I saw the first contestant miss FJ and thought “how did you come up with that ridiculous answer?” just to see the second person provide the same answer.

The on time Cris didn't have a lock game, he bet exactly the cover bet in FJ. There's zero indication he would have done anything else yesterday.

Scenario 1:
Zack doesn't ring in and Cris does: They go into FJ with $20400 for Cris and $10800 for Zack. In that scenario, Cris bets $1201 in FJ and ends at $21601.
Scenario 2:
They both don't ring in: They go into FJ with $19600 for Cris and $10800 for Zack. In that scenario, Cris bets $2001 in FJ and ends at $21601.

In real life, Cris could have wagered $399 without risking the lock game. Had he done that his final score would have been $20799.

Zack's mistake cost Cris $802 and saved him a sweat.
