American Airlines?

And how about that brilliant $2k FJ wager from Emma today?

Again last night. Mayim corrected him but he still got the credit.

Isn't it true the in the first round, it's OK to mess up phrasing and the host prompts you, but later it's just wrong?

Just FYI Since I totally missed it starting yesterday. The College Championship is also going on in primetime on ABC. It started last night which I missed. Check your DVRs if you want to watch.

I was pretty disappointed when I realized they basically dumped it off during the Olympics.

Different format than normal tournaments.

36 competitors, 12 first round games - only winners move on

4 semifinal games - top 3 scores move on to the final.

So far after 4 games, the field does not seem as strong as the former college tournament.

Girl in last night's second game thought Henry VIII's 2nd wife was Marie Antoinette

Only three of four winners moving to the finals feels super weird

Or maybe not even winners based on what you said

Agreed. I get trying something new, but this format seems like a step down from the normal one. I hope the ToC won't be like that.

OTOH i like the current champ of the normal J eps airing the stay at home Uncle, he kicks ass.

The College Tournament semi final winner who doesn’t make it to the final will get invited to the “Second Chance” tournament they’ll host before the ToC. That tournament is going to fill up at least one remaining spot to the ToC.

That is bullshit. The FJ difficulty varies widely from game to game. You finish first in your game should be advancement.

Not watching. I really only usually like the ToC. College is generally ok. Teachers is almost always horrible. 1/2 hour of Mayim in a day is more than enough.

Last night, middle-age guy with a mohawk. Mayim asks him about it.

He says (I'll paraphrase) "People ask me about it. The say 'Are you in a band?' I answer, 'no - I'm just weird'."

Player strength varies widely from game to game. In a regular tournament your chances of advancing from the semi finals to the finals highly depend on if there's a James Holzhauer in your game or not.

Only watched one episode of the college championship so far and didn't like anything about it. But I don't blame them for trying out new stuff there. The ToC works well under the current format because all the players are established winners and we already know them. For other formats, like college or teachers, I don't really see the need to drag it out over two weeks. I think a one week tournament with 12 players over 4 semi finals and one final could be refreshing.

It's almost like some weird crossword puzzle clue convention thing that rewards you for watching the show frequently, rather than testing actual knowledge.

The College Championship finale apparently airs tonight.

Ended up not watching anything except for one episode I didn’t like but might turn in for the finals.

I was happy for the Texas kid. I love rooting for the public school kids to beat up on the private/ivy leaguers. I think he was *just* beating the kid from Kennesaw on the buzzer. The Northeastern girl didn't have a chance, but she got lucky to win her semifinal match. The two she beat (From Harvard and...Minnesota? Another midwestern state) I think could have hung better with those two dudes than she did, but thems the breaks.

Next time somebody claims that no player would be idiotic enough to make wager XYZ, we can safely point them to the episode of 02/24/2022.

No instant Karma. Dammit

I also don’t like the champ shoving there. Could have made a smaller wager like yesterday to still cover third and win on a triple stumper.

From the JBoard site, she posted:

“ Nerves, y'all. They'll get you every time. I had worked SO HARD on wagering strategy, and I checked my math so many times that I forgot to do the last most important step, to add the extra dollar!

I realized my mistake in the middle of writing my FJ response. If the camera shows me at that moment you will see it all over my face.

Fun fact, tiebreakers take awhile to set up, so I had plenty of time to self-flagellate and try to prep mentally for the most important buzz of my life.”

FJ is a triple get with 3rd doubling up to 17600, 2nd doubling up to 34000 and 1st betting 15000 to also end up at 34000 for the tie-breaker.
