Clue: “This birthstone is used in abrasives for polishing & grinding; the color pairs with gold as an official one for Florida State”
Agree, found the wording confusing. I thought it was the state of Florida's flag color or something, didn't even register FSU. They should have added University to the end of the clue to avoid it having a possible double meaning.

If they meant the state they would have said "state of Florida" or just "Florida". They would never say "Massachusetts State" for example (exceptions for Washington and New York of course to differentiate from DC and City, respectively). But it's too easy for the mind to go there, I agree they should have added University (or U. or Univ. to make it fit).

Wish we could see what happens if he got that DD right. Would have been 10k 0 0 at that point.

Massive choke job.

Because Massachusetts is a Commonwealth.

Definitely would have been interesting if he gets that, but he had a lot of ground to make up from game 1, and DJ was way kinder to Ken than James (hard to say how much of that was James starting to yolo it and guess more than he wanted to). May not have made a difference.

I picked up on the FSU hint but know **** about gemstones so I was thinking "scarlet" lol

I was able to answer maybe ten total questions in the bottom three rows but two were the willy wonka and handmaids tale stumper. I can get none of them watching that show, but seriously willy wonka?

the whig/democratic-republicans was super super easy FJ

like Didace said schools don't like regular names for their colors.

Michigan is maize and blue
Texas is burnt orange
Ohio State is scarlet and gray
and Florida State is garnet and gold

they get referred to by these colors often enough that it is pretty common knowledge for any college football junkie

Oh yeah. If he gets that DD correct, he only has to outscore Ken by 2,001 more the rest of the game to be able to overtake him in FJ. I was super disappointed when James missed that question. And he knew diamond wasn't correct, he just couldn't seem to recall the correct answer.

He definitely pressed as the match went on because he had to.

It made me laugh when Brad looked at Ken and said "you're welcome" after hitting both DDs in double Jeopardy.

I'm pretty sure Brad has hit a DD in double Jeopardy on the first clue on at least 4/6 double Jeopardy rounds. I also don't think he's answered 1 correctly lol. Maybe he's answered 1 correctly, but I can't remember.

what were the stumpers last night?........ note that "triple stumper" has come to mean 3 incorrect guesses. i don't think we had one last night

as for stumpers, i remember "treatment" for shortened screenplay. i got another one i don't remember.

someone else mentioned willy wonka and handmaid's tale. i remember the willy wonka miss. but i do not remember the handmaid's tale clue

That's because a different school was founded a century before it and took the good name, which happened before there even were states. Also, they changed their name to pedo state a decade ago, because Paterno raped some kids, or something like that.

I remember James and Ken both whiffing on Serena from the Handmaid's Tale, don't think Brad buzzed in though. Clue was what was the name of Commander Waterford's wife. I think Ken said Offred and James said Ofglen.

And my school is now Molest U. But hey, DeVos wants to gut Title IX.

For the third match in a row Ken leads in total Coryat with James 2nd and Brad 3rd. While the difference hasn't been huge, Ken has definitely outplayed James.

Very enjoyable watching even if some of the clues have been a bit humbling.

Let's say, for the sake of argument, that James wins match #4, what does Brad do in #5?

On the one hand, I could see him not ringing in at all. Kind of a "gentlemanly" thing to do: step aside and let the two possible champions go heads-up.

On the other, that changes the very complexion of the game, which doesn't seem very "gentlemanly".

I think he's got to play it straight up, even with 0% chance for the overall title.

You don't think he could get it together and win three in a row?

Not playing to win even down 2-2-0 would be ridiculous, and Ken and James wouldn't expect any less of him.

most competitions of this sort have "competitive effort" rules/guidelines.

as per brad not ringing in any longer, wouldn't that thinking pretty much apply to all kinds of contestants in double jeopardy?

and i don't think brad is that far away from being highly competitive numbers-wise.. it is bizarre how he can't get DD's.

I thought it was best of five. My bad. Oops, you're right, then there's no reason not to try one's best.

I feel for Brad, I don't watch Jeopardy that often but he seems to have horrible luck with it and only gets it right when there's little at stake

Game would be very different if Brad had gotten all his DDs

It's pretty clear James got out of poker very early as he didn't know what a key logger was - something I'd guess the majority of 2+2 is familiar with

Interesting seeing how Brad emulates crockpots buzzer style while Ken remains a traditionalist yet it seems like Ken does the best (I'm assuming all 3 are buzzing in for most questions)

However, it's fun seeing Ken's animated hand motions when he misses

Agreed that Brad would make a great successor to host, I hope they consider that

Also I really enjoyed how Brad and James just had fun in final Jeopardy when Ken had it locked up

It seems like no matter what you max wager in first match unless you really don't know cat well at all

what's the DD win rate in general and in this special series?.....

one thing about DD's in double jeopardy is often the categories are pretty generic, therefore you really have no idea on what the underlying subject is. i think maybe J went to generic categories so that mass memorization wouldn't quite as effective (or maybe not)

i vaguely remember ken/brad/watson....... what was watson's buzzer speed? the speed of the computer? i.e. very very fast?

i do remember on FJ that watson thought toronto was a major US city... i hope the iranians didn't use watson in their threat detection systems
