It hasn't really been that long since AJ was on either.

So far going to FJ, a lot of "no mans land" totals and silly wagers.

I would think going into the opening round of a tournament, you'd pick a number (or narrow range) that would be 85+% to be good enough to move on, and (with some minor exceptions) bet $0 when higher and shove when lower.

Same here. I haven't seen anyone yet this week who can compete with him.

Hoping James crushes the TOC to set up a James-Ken-Brad match.

Anybody catch tonight's episode?

The woman who beat James Holzhauer was competing and she kept a constant "up-down" motion with her buzzer hand that looked... really weird.

Regarding idiotic wagers:

The guy in the middle who got the last Daily Double clue should have went all-in imo. To maximize best his chances at a wild card and ability to catch the leader in Final Jeopardy.

Also I thought the woman's bet of Zero in FJ was really weird. Was she really locked into a wild card spot with her current total so that's why she didn't want to wager 2201 to go for the outright win?

Thoughts?

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen now.

Not as bad as the mannequin faced guy in the middle constant hangman arm leaning on the podium

I thought the Thursday FJ betting was terrible.

Can't remember exact amounts but it was like
23k
13k
12k

1st should bet the ~3k to lock up 1st. Better than being wc.

2nd/3rd should either shove or bet 0. Tough spot. Guess it depends on category strength. 3rd may want to do 1,001 to pass 2nd

Numbers slightly off actual game, but principle remains.

Would've been dumb to bet anything else by Steve.

Did anyone miss cut who would have made it if they properly bet 0 instead?

Assume semis is
Francois/2 wildcards
James/gil/wc
Emma/dhruv/wc

Jeop really wants James Emma rematch with a James domination

this is interesting reading. a lot of my gut feel FJ wagering plays in tournaments prior to reading this would have been rather bad. i daresay that's the same for nearly all the people in the thread also.

1. She did the up down thing when she was on the first time around. Apparently it works. She's fast on the buzzer. Not peak Rutter, but very fast

2. Her total was a lock for WC. As mentioned above, there are seeding advantages to locking in the win, so not betting for that was suboptimal. Because even if she gets it wrong and loses, she is still a lock for WC.

For real. Must have meant the world to him since I don’t think I’ve ever seen him express that level of emotion. Could tell with his handshake with Dhruv too.
