2nd place guy was somewhat in range and DD hunting earynin DJ. Then James got them both back to back. The woman’s body language was pretty defeatist from the get-go but the guy was at least dreaming, then he took two to the face and it was over. Could see the Hope drain out of him.

I was gonna say, that guy was getting his share of answers, and it at least felt tonight (and occasionally has a few other times) that it was luck of the draw that James wasn't in trouble.

But then when you think about it more, it would take the guy betting properly on the DD, getting it right, then hitting the second (with probably a weak-ass bet but just keeping it away from James is enough), then at least a double-get in FJ to win. That's a lot that has to happen.

She had great reactions, kept losing on the buzzer and turning to the side and giving the stink-eye, crossing her arms.

She looked pissed a ton

I believe this to be incorrect. They tape these things months in advance. They may tape the whole season before any of them air, though I'm not sure about that.

Well, "talked about it" is a stretch. Alex asked him if he gained a lot of his knowledge in college and James replied that he "majored in online poker."

As I understand it, they tape a week of shows in a day, and tape 2 days per week. Generally, there is a 3 -4 month lag between taping and airing.

Each Season of Jeopardy usually ends near the end of July so they likely have the rest of this years Season in the can. They will then air reruns for 6 about weeks and start the next Season mid-September. I would be surprised if they have started filming any of Season 36 yet.

Season 35 wrapped about a month ago. I'm not sure when they start taping season 36, but it wouldn't be for another couple of months normally.

Of course, due to Alex's illness, this is far from a "normal" hiatus.

What other tournaments are scheduled before the end of the season? Wondering how many regular eps are left.

I'm pretty sure new tournaments are finished for the season. They'll rerun some of the ones from this season during the summer.

Wow. Watched tonight’s show thinking he “only” got 71K.

As far as catching up to taping, from the jboard

Spoiler:
The first game with James was Thursday, April 4th. The Teachers Tournament taped a few days prior to his airing debut. Jackie Fuchs had a Twitter post on Sunday, April 7th that she (and others champs) were at the last taping for Season 35.

If there were J! tapings on April 4th or 5th it's nothing I recall seeing previously. It seems like I read somewhere there was a taping on April 6th and I do not know if that was the same one Jackie was using for her Twitter post. Perhaps it was both that Saturday and Sunday to get 10 games done?

Whatever it is those players that concluded S35 would have (or should have seen) the first two games with James. Whether James was still the champ or not at the season-ending taping? I do not know.

To answer your question I think it would not be until July 15th that the players would have taped after a game with James had aired.

is there any point in going from bottom to up after the DDs have been claimed? I guess you want to leave the 200/400 clues for last so that if time runs out you are maximizing. I'm sure there's also a deflate the opponent component where if you get all of the high value $$ clues, then the opponents get deflated and potentially don't try as hard for the smaller dollar value clues.

Not that it matters that much but I think he should start picking the $800 row first in single Jeopardy. They've started hiding the daily doubles in the $1000 clues every day to try to keep him from building up too big of a lead too fast since he always starts there. Go to $800's until they start putting them there then randomize between $800 and $1000 to keep em honest.

Also I feel like it's possible he might have already passed Ken Jennings total earnings if it weren't for his $9812's et. al. in Double Jeopardy Daily Double's. He uses a lot of $9xxx $10xxx $11xxx's when his optimal bet might be 5k higher on the first one and then he gets it and goes with the same type of number on the 2nd bet when optimal is maybe 10-17k higher. Then he's losing twice as much as whatever that works out to because he shoves whatever he can on FJ and is always right.

The significant date thing is clearly a compulsion he's not going to drop he needs to at least come up with some significant ones from the last few years to cover 14's 15's...19's then invert dates to cover the 20's. Maybe I should DM him on the off chance he does it so he can maximize records raping for the lols.

They haven't started doing anything different, they aren't legally allowed to do anything like you're saying.
