I'd rewatch with CC on but I've already deleted it. I thought she said ill as well but didn't make the connection that it didn't fit the 2 vowel rule.
CC isn’t foolproof. I remember when Maya Angelou read a poem at the inauguration (Clinton?). The poem started "A rock, a river, a tree...." with pauses for effect. The CC was “Iraq...”
btw, when I watched that episode, I had the same reaction you did but then figured she either said ail or Alex just interpreted it that way because that's the answer he had and they sound somewhat similar.

True, but CC often gets it wrong during live broadcasts. It still does get it wrong sometimes with taped programs, but much less often.
Especially since the category was title characters plural. Who else was it going to be, Hi and Lois?
I mean it could've been Marmaduke and Dilbert. Didn't have to assume it would be title characters from same comic.
But still catching up. Lol bet by that chic in the middle. The funny thing is, I don't even think she realized she didn't anything wrong. She was just like yup, I won. Good bet by me.
Quite the game last night. With time running out, Sean got a clue to make it
Jill 13,600
Sean 21,200
Joan 7,600
Joan snags 2 higher value clues to get to 11,200 and then a solo get in FJ to snatch the W.
(If scores had ended when Joan had 7,600 we would have an interesting wager scenario as Sean could have chosen an even 6,000 which could have been a tie two ways depending on who got FJ correct).
Dude gets partial credit for DD wager to take lead but would have preferred a (near) shove. With a shove, 3rd would be forced to go big in FJ, increasing his chance on triple stumpers (assuming 2nd over-bets).
I missed it. I even made the same wrong guess that he did, trying to come up with a female singer racking up #1 songs.
My excuse: I'm old....and I can't name a single one those #1 songs they mentioned. I've completely ignored the career of the singer they were looking for, neither she nor her music appeals to me at all.

I knew it because “this singer had her first 5 singles hit #1 on the billboard charts” and “this female singer had 14 #1 hits in the 90s” have been questions before, potentially on other game shows. She’s also frequently on lists of stuff like artists who sold over 100 million albums in a decade.
My favorite Mariah Carey song:
I assume in today’s episode, the guy in the middle got credited with another correct answer before FJ? My parents called on Skype during the commercial break and I had to turn the volume off. Just noticed the scoring changed.

2nd is the returning champ who is a mathematician. I think we can assume a good wager here and NOT an overbet. Of course lady in last has a solo get and still loses in place she has to pretty much shove.
He really tried to lose it Thursday. He seems to purposefully avoid the final DD.
Granted he got screwed on the Michael Strahan answer. He said “pyramid”, Alex didn’t respond immediately so then he said “25,000 pyramid” and then Alex said he added “incorrect additional info” which seems to indicate that “pyramid” would have been ok. (Guess it’s 100,000 now)
He doesn’t really bother me too much but I get it.
