I've been getting caught up on around 2 weeks worth of episodes (1/14 watching now) and something definitely happened last week where 1 or 2 new episodes got replaced. Very disorienting.

Lol men, dude bets 4K out of ~6k and could have avoided the runaway if he bet it all.

Also, the daily double of “... conservation of this four letter word”: easiest ever?

That's what I was thinking, but didn't cost him. Must have been easy, because I got it, but probably not easiest ever.

It did cost him- he would have had more than 50%. Results oriented of course it did not cost him but EV and win% it certainly did.

He ended up $800 short of half and left $2200 behind.

It cost him the chance to compete for it in FJ instead of having the game be a runaway. If he bets $6200 instead of $4000, he ends the round at $14000 with the champ at $25200.

And Alex even basically told him to go for broke when he said there weren’t many clues left.

I understand. It could have cost him, but with the way FJ played out it didn't.

The category alone should have been an instant bet it all and hope the person ahead of me is an idiot situation imo.

If he bets it all and loses on a triple stumper, he would be mocked here endlessly.

Guy lost because this time he didn’t find a DD to blow the game open in DJ. His FJ bet made sure he stayed ahead of a 3rd place double-up if he was correct while most likely winning the game on a miss by 1st place. I am pretty confident that’s the right call on his part.

I don’t have a problem with his wager. Middle left the door wide open for him to win with a shove

Especially since the category was title characters plural. Who else was it going to be, Hi and Lois?

3rd had 7,200, not 7,500.

We have seen 1st not cover bet VERY rarely. I like the 1,000 from 2nd.

We have seen a shove from 2nd quite a bit. For me it’s a coin flip from 3rd. Shove or bet small. If I had watched the champ in his previous games I’d have assumed he was going to bet small, so in this case shoving is probably correct.

Ridiculously easy clue.

“This group, later featured in multiple theatrical releases, had their first appearance in a surprisingly successful Nov 1961 publication”.

I wouldn’t have been able to come up with Fantastic Four for that one.

Did I not understand the category or was there a mistake?

Category was something like three letter words with two of the three letters being a vowel.

Clue was something along the lines of "Feeling unwell"

And the accepted response was "What is ill?"

JBoard discusses this- conclusion is that she said “ail”.
