I get it. I thought he wagered less than that and had a little more. Probably misremembered. I agree the scenario you described is very bad.

Well, my Trojan hero got abused on the buzzer but at least he had the balls to take advantage of the easy FJ.

I expected the Pitt girl to wager more on FJ, especially for that layup of a category.

Pretty epic surge for the Berkeley girl at the end of double jeopardy to move into 2nd as well after not doing much all game. The final should be good with the scores all pretty close.

I loved it. Incredible WIM effort. "F everybody I'm winning this thing no Alex you don't get the chance tell me I'm right before I go to the next category."

Close to my favorite one-game effort, which is still Bob Verini in '87 (IIRC in his original 5 game run) where he's way behind in DJ with 4 categories left and proceeds to run the board.

Huge WIM by Berkeley girl at end. You could tell she was clearly unimpressed with the results of her FJ wager tho.

Obama casting senate votes as a 12 year old.

Holy **** at Obama guess. Was that really the only legislator she could think of?

Ugh spoilers. Yes I know you didn't technically break the thread rule.

This does highlight how everyone has been honoring the 6pm guideline. After 6:00 buyer beware!

Damn that usc kid was a total tool, I liked both the girls. Oh well. Really good game.

Yeah I was rooting for the girls too. Kudos to Sarah for shoving on that DD, though I thought it was fairly easy, and the Obama guess is definitely wtf. She should have shoved in FJ yesterday. Agree with the Niki WIM just bull-rushing through DJ yesterday. Good stuff.

Grats to Sam, though. He earned it. Role model Kanye? Whatevs.

Legend,

I thought cute Berkeley girl messed up bigtime not pushing or at least betting quite a bit more on the ends in "ily" DD. Those types of categories always seem way easier than average to me.

Agree ELD, plus you have the extra time to piece it together. The wordplay Qs are usually just a speed contest. But she was more conservative than the PITT girl all the way through.

That FJ question was not great imo. Byrd cast more Senate votes than anyone in history but is not as renowned as Biden, Pete Domenici served the exact same span as Biden and cast 13,666 votes to Joe's 12,810. Ted Kennedy, Daniel Inouye, Ernest Hollings, Carl Levin, Max Baucus, John Warner, Paul Sarbanes, etc. also would have been very good guesses.

It's basically asking them to figure out the level of difficulty the producers are going for, and presumably they haven't watched all the other QF and SF games to know FJ questions haven been running extraordinarily easy this tournament. And if even you did, you'd presume the ultimate FJ would lean towards being tougher. Not a big fan.

How was he a tool? Seemed pretty chill to me. I liked all of them.

He also talked about being the kid who complains about the music at parties. No one likes that kid. He played fine, but I don't think he got any of the DJ DDs? Has that ever happened before?

It was a weird tournament. Nobody dominated and it ended up as a "last man standing" contest. He was the only one to get both FJs right, give him the money.

What was the exact wording of the answer? My guess was Kennedy, and after looking it up afterwards, he served longer than Biden, so I must have misread what FJ was actually asking for.

It said 1973 to January 2009. That was the giveaway hint leading to Biden specifically. I missed it (Flipping a mental coin between Byrd and Thurmond).

Yeah I guessed Ted Kennedy too because I knew he died in 09 but realized in retrospect January was the giveaway

My guess was strom Thurmond. Way too early...

Yeah that was terrible. Was hoping Niki would win, but she blew it with her day 1 FJ wager + her DD wager on day 2.

Good game today. Liked the champ being aggressive on the DDs knowing that he might've been outmatched by the challenger. Still, I thought his second did wager was odd. Isn't that a spot to bet 0/small or shove all-in?
