This might be the best 3 contestants collectively I've ever seen in one non-tournament game.

Standard terrible wager from him though, way to give Jill a chance.

Yeah, racks up almost 20k before FJ and makes the sucker bet?

Also, how the hell do 2/3 miss the easiest fj in history? Every third grader would get it instantly.

Funny thing is that if you try to point out on the JBoard how bad 2nd bet was, you'll get several Results Oriented Thinking responses.

Its like playing Scrabble with someone that can put together a lot of words, but keeps lining up a U next to triple word score while you are sitting with a dead Q.

(And of course the poker player that wins a lot of pots but eventually felts every time).

Any halfway decent Scrabble player doesn't need a U to get the Q down. QI being the simplest play, QAT is nice as well.

Plus a good player with deep word knowledge can afford to spot you a high scoring Q play and still crush you. It's not like one decent scoring Q play will win the game. Far from it.

But your point is well-taken.

Ah, I was basically just dicking around. FWIW, if I remember my list correctly, the Q is mathematically the worst tile you can draw out of the 100. It's a tile the beginners love and the experts hate.

But, I would wager if you played CAZIQUES on a triple-triple for 392 points that you would win the game regardless of word knowledge.

No matter one's skill level though, Scrabble is a great game. Wish more would play.

the past 2 FJ clues have been embarrassingly easy.
aren't they supposed to be more challenging than a standard clue?

they're the type of clues I would expect to see on the $200 or $400 rows of J n DJ rounds, wtf.

also, how the **** did 2 players not get that?
was literally the 1st thing that popped in my head.

River-jboard has lots posting scores. I just don't have the ability to focus that much while watching.

I am no scrabble expert. Probably played a total of a few dozen times and 1/2 those with my kids when young. Just trying to make a point. When I do play with other non experts I generally win because I focus on the scoring while they focus on the words. (With the kids we mostly tried to fill up the board vs scoring)

if they didnt include the hint of "after the thirteen", i could understand not coming up with it, but with that hint, what else could it possibly be?

basically LOL bill of rights

All,

lol @ all three of them randomly guessing pitches they've heard of in the baseball category that have pretty much nothing in common with the pitch described in the clue.

I got 19k yesterday which was one of my best so far. I think I got like 12 tonight. I'm still a bit away from being ready to try out.

The former champ's voice was annoying yes, but her rack looked really nice yesterday, so I wouldn't have minded if she kept winning.

YES I yelled about this to my wife.

Split finger was not a bad guess tho (and it's actually what I guessed too).

Fail on the final DD wager today, gotta bet for a lock tie if you get it wrong in that situation.

Middle guy had potential but just sucked on the buzzer. Loved the champ sighing like oh no when he got the DD in the best possible situation while trailing. Of course didn't make the optimal bet, though not a bad one. Would have been great if he got what was a really easy clue and they both wagered everything in FJ so middle guy advanced on the triple stumper.

Ugh. Just saw that dolt bet $7000 on the last clue of the game with a chance to overtake. I went into such a rage I leapt off the couch and started screaming at the TV. Even my wife, who is not at all the type to get upset over wagering, was instantly tilted.

What made it worse was how pleased with himself he was after getting it right. I hope the people who know him irl shamed him appropriately. Easily the biggest DD fail I've ever witnessed.

Let's Play Ball is the type of category I dream about getting if I ever appear on Jeopardy. Holy hell at those guesses: slider, change-up, splitter. Maybe I'm just assuming too much of non-baseball fans.

Big whiff by the defending champion at the end of Double Jeopardy. I liked his bid to play for the tie, but missing that question, especially without even offering a guess, is pretty bad. I thought that was a pretty well-known movie. Even if you've never seen it or heard of it, the clue about 2000 and 2001 Oscars should at least give you some ammunition for an educated guess.

Um, do you guys not understand that the "prisoner's dilemma" situation is perhaps the worst scenario to be in? Aside from being mathematically eliminated I suppose.

It was perhaps the worst DD wager he could have made that was <=$4500.

Perhaps he had an agreement with her or a read to bet 0. Just because it never happens doesn't mean it won't. Can't call it an awful wager, though it's the third choice in my book.

The prisoners dilemma is hardly the worst situation to be in outside of a lock game. It just forces you to get it right to win, it's no different than being in a lead where your opponent has >2/3rds of your score, the only difference being that now third place wins instead of second when you get it wrong. Obviously he should have bet 4500 to either take the outright lead or have exactly half her score, but it's clearly not the worst wager, 2000 < x < 3000 is much worse since it wouldn't have given him the outright lead, but it would have dropped him below the 2/3rds mark should he have gotten it wrong.
