I could understand not ringing in if it was during the run of play, I imagine it's difficult to keep track of the scores as they change every fifteen seconds, and who knows how they're even presented to the players, they could be halfway across the studio out of immediate visual sight. But, coming straight off of a DD where she specifically wagered to double him up, no excuses. I guess hoping Julia rings in and gets it wrong is somewhat viable, but once a second passes and she doesn't ring it, just take a shot in the dark with Methuselah or something.

I can think of over 390,000 reasons I think she's cute.

Yep. He knew. I momentarily forgot that there was still one clue remaining.

I'm kind of liking her more and more. You could genuinely see her wheels turning trying to figure out the math, and then being really happy with herself when she said "$2300".
Yep. I figured she'd get some love from this thread since she finally put some thought into it rather than going with her standard, cute, "Um, 2,000."

I thought about that, and that's a reasonable gamble to take, but once she doesn't buzz in, you've got to get in there, obviously.

And I don't think Julia's demeanor is smugly overconfident. I'd say a prime example of smugly overconfident would be a guy like Colby from the Battle of the Decades. I'd describe Julia as meek. She often answers as if she isn't quite sure. This is probably fake, but whatever.

Yeah, I don't get the overconfident vibe from her either.

EDIT: watching now, looool at the Texas answer for -ia

EDIT again: in the 2300 vs. 4300 discussion, can we really count on Manuel to make the right call? Even if Julia bets 4300 and gets it wrong, he could easily bet an amount that leaves him behind in a triple stumper.

her betting less than the value of the clue in DDs is pretty frustrating. she's up like 15k and bets 1200 for a DD.

It seemed like she pretty much had it locked up, no need to risk it with a big bet.

Another day another runaway for Julia. Winning streak now up to 19, eight days more than Chu. She is one win away from surpassing Dave Madden as the 2nd greatest Jeopardy champion in the history of time.

Without fail, Alex cannot resist showing somebody up when they give a response that doesn't fit the parameters of the category. He just can't let it go, haha.

"Oh, no, Texas does not end in '-ia,' you halfwit."

I thought they might bring Madden out to congratulate her for tying his mark. Perhaps if she passes him tomorrow?

Take solace in that you will get satisfaction when Chu owns her in the ToC, if she makes it to the final.

So they have brought Madden back to sit in the audience to watch 5 games and if she happens to win all 5 then they'll bring him out?

Just how many players have they brought back for a similar occasion?

Seems pretty unlikely since Madden couldn't appear in the BotD b/c of a conflict of interest.

I have no idea. I just thought it's something they might think of doing, given the significance of the event.

Guys, catching up now.

Tuesday's episode, the dentist's DD.

'A VISA to Saudi Arabia for this purpose only covers travel in the vicinities of Mecca, Medina & Jiddah'.

i) It was nice to see him bet a TDD.
ii) Is it just me or is this a really easy question?
iii) When Trebek asked him to elucidate on 'for religious purposes', what was he looking for?

Hajj. Pilgrimage may or may not have required another be more specific.
