His bigger error was earlier when he hit the first dd in double j. He had 8400 vs tough 1st place's 16200. He has to bet big, and he's done if he misses. But he bets 6000 instead of all 8400. Finishes the round behind by 1800.

She was pretty cute for Jeopardy, and about as nervous as I've seen someone on a regular show. I thought she might have a panic attack when she realized she was in the lead late in the game. And it was strange how she smiled all the time. I was rooting for her to win this one, though she made such weak DD wagers that I would have probably started rooting against her in the next show if it didn't change.

Anyone else think of White Men Can't Jump during the "Q" linary category? In the movie they only showed four clues from the category and I believe three of the correct responses were also used in today's show.

Triple stumper

3rd $6,000
2nd $17,400
1st $21,400

3rd bets $2001 (yeah, expects to only win if she is the only one correct, so she needs to get above $8000 to pass 1st protecting against a shove from 2nd)

2nd bets all but $42. DUH, bet nada dude, but only the 2nd place idiot today.

1st bets $18,000, wins the 1st place idiot title, way overbet what was needed to protect against 2nd.

Didn't really matter what 3rd bet; she was drawing dead. 2nd's bet is far worse than 1st's, because he should win in both triple stumper situations and even when third gets final, so his ******ed bet cost him the game. As it turns out, 1st's ******ed bet only cost him because of second's ******ation; in other words, if 1st doesn't get final, he should never have even a chance to win.

Second makes the standard shove bet which is stupid, yes. But why does first overbet so much

At least we see second's mistake all the time, first was a tool

Oof. I had a feeling Margaret would win because she started posting on jboard earlier this week. The 5-time champ also posts on jboard. He explained his wager by saying he had already exceeded his expectations and locked up a spot in the ToC, plus he was missing law school classes, so he just decided to go big or go home.

Funny having the sports category with three women. He hit the shot over Byron Russell to beat Utah in the 1998 NBA Finals ... Who is Karl Malone? Who is Clyde Drexler? LoL

I want to see some funny but potentially correct answers to the common bonds category. Like for "A piano, a typewriter, Florida," someone says what are three locations on which I've had sex?

Trebek had a heart attack apparently. Which sucks ass, hopefully he's not gone for very long. I need my Jeopardy fix

They have the episodes taped way in advance, so it should last for a while, unless we are on a season break already. But hope he gets better.

Edit: Looks like they start taping end of July and he should be ready by then.

Sweet.

Yeah, of course I know they're taped in advance, but when he messed up his leg it caused them to delay taping and there was like a 3-month period without Jeopardy. Hated that.

Untrue. There was no change or delay whatsoever in air dates. Late in the summer they always show replays of the past season's tournaments.

Tuesday night, the defending champ got the DD as the final clue in DJ. He was in a great spot with a chance to go for the lock game with no repercussions. I had no confidence he would do so, of course, because he seemed like a nervous puss and had bet small on a Dd earlier. All he had to do was bet 5601 to to 5699 I believe. He stood up there looking like he was trying to figure this out, but then Alex chimes in that they are running out of time and with that pressure the guy crumbles and bets 5300. Fail. Didn't end up hurting him, though, as he still won on a triple-get FJ.

That's just being bad at math under pressure, I can forgive that. It's when they insta-bet like 1K in that spot that I get pissed.

Nothing pisses me off more than when someone finds a DD, Trebek tells them, "You can take the lead on this one," and they absolutely refuse to consider it. Even someone trailing by only 1500 will snap-bet 1000--they should be required to say, "No, Alex, I don't WANT to take the lead! Why would you think I'd be interested in that? It is of paramount importance to me that I give my opponent every material edge I can think of, and making sure that he always has more money than I do is the best way to accomplish that."

It would help if there were precise rules about how much time there is available to decide on a DD wager, and also for the response time to the DD's.

I would not be at all surprised if a lot of the time it's actually +EV to go max on the DD.
