Has nothing to do with acing the test, you've already proved you have the knowledge by passing the online test. Yes, you will have to take another test at the audition site, but it's simply to show you didn't cheat your way there. And it's usually easier than the online variety.

It's mostly about how you present yourself at the audition, they want you to have a good time and smile. That's probably the most important word to understand, smile. Always smile. Smile while you sit there and listen to directions. Smile when you play the mock game. Smile when they interview you. Smile beforehand if you chat with the contestant coordinators. Smile when they take your picture. Hell, smile when you are taking a piss, get used to it.

It's also important to follow directions while playing the mock game. When it's your turn to pick a category, do so loudly and quickly. When you ring in, ring in exactly like they teach you to. Do not attempt to ring in too early, that's not following directions.

If you follow directions and act like you're having fun, you'll do just fine.

I got 35 just now, my best result ever (assuming they give me "Fort Sumpter"--how could there NOT be a P in there???), and missed a few guppies (New Mexico, Senate Majority leader, etc).

Funny, I missed all three British questions, and my new British roommate came home just as I wrapped up. "Where were YOU when I needed you?" Turns out he was almost no help at all. While his Dylan Thomas contribution was a far better guess than mine of Dylan Walsh (who was that, 90210?), he also couldn't come up with the King's Speech guy, nor the author of the Canterbury Tales. "You should've got that one," he chided, "you work at Canterbury (Park)!"

I got 17, which is probably on par with what I usually get, but in my defense a lot of these questions are pretty damn tough for a Swede (especially since they're in english). Still also feel borderline ******ed when compared to the rest of you, though.

My first thought was The Godfather, but then I was like wait De Niro was in Part II and it doesn't look like there's any Part II in that. So not knowing Italian, I looked at the appearance of the words. It seemed to be saying "The XXXXXXX." So I thought of the big De Niro movies and which ones began with "The" ... Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter. OK, I'll go with that one.

Smarmy know-it-all contestants are pretty bad, but in my mind there's nothing worse than someone who is so utterly clueless they constantly run their mouth and blurt out answers before Trebek prompts them like today's champ.

usually if I know the FJ answer, it was too easy. That was the case tonight.

Also, could the champ be more annoying? Wanted to punch him both time he hit the daily double and paused before saying---let's double it!

Surprising all-in FJ wager from leader/champ today. Not sure what to think about it. Guy in second should have bet 700 on that last DD to half the leader's score. If he did, he'd probably have $15k and be returning. Emily was very cute.

$8,000 is too much, it's too much. Let's bet $6,000 instead so if I get it right I'm only in 2nd and if I get it wrong I'm basically eliminated. I wish it had cost her but it was a triple stumper which I knew because I remember Busey in that Buddy Holly movie. She didn't deserve to win after that.

This isn't true since the other two had $18,000 and $16,200, but it was still an absurd decision.

But if she got it wrong she'd be sitting around $5k. A rational 2nd place isn't going to bet enough in FJ to give her a chance since he would need 1st to get it wrong anyway. He would bet $6100 at the most and I don't think 3rd place would be a factor in that scenario.
