I can see how they could give these answers because of the way the question is worded. It all depends on intonation or how they read it, but one could think the questions is asking "Even though there is still violence on the show, this form of violence still exists."

The stupidest answer I ever "saw" on Jeopardy! was when some stupid, hundred-pound ten-year-old-looking kid from Eastern Michigan said that Richard Nixon was the governor of a state west of the Mississippi to choke away a very near doubling lead...

It was annexed prior to the outbreak of hostilities.
You expect someone who knows this to not know what Operation Barbarossa is? Think about it.

It's for this reason that I like watch Jeopardy. I couldn't get any of the questions right, but at least I have the intellect to make a bid that makes sense.

The thing that tilts me the most in Jeopardy is when some clown makes bids small in the 2nd Double Jeopardy question and especially if it's close to Final Jeopardy.

Example:

P1: 8,000
P2: 14,000
P3: 2,000

Lets say it's the final category and P1 bids 3k on the question. Now what is the point of that?

How do these people not understand that they have a better chance of answering a single question in a random category then hoping to get Final Jeopardy right and for the Chip Captain to miss it?

It's just another example of someone choosing to just have a chance rather than maximizing there equity. See just about any football game and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Jeopardy is just lucky that the 2nd Double Jeopardy doesn't become the new Final Jeopardy. If it did, it'd really spike the average first place ship.

Yuck. Today (4/26)

1st 10,800
2nd 8,000
3rd 7,400

3rd bet it all
2nd bet 6801
1st bet 5201

They all got it wrong. What is 3rd places plan?

Lol. So so bad. If only we could get a list of future Jeopardy contestants, I bet we could make some decent money giving a 2-hour class on optimal wagering strategy.

OR if you hate the category, try to stay over 1/2 of 1st place so 1st has to bet more than 1/2 to protect in FJ and you can stand pat (bet $0). That was if 1st misses FJ, you win.

Is there a rule that the Daily Double wager must be at least the face value of the clue? If there is not, how is it that no one ever bets nothing? There are plenty of times when the contestant must feel he's is a dog to answer a question correctly, yet I've never seen it.

one note, people do weird things, if I was winning and I didn't think the opposition was so great, I'd generally bet enough to clinch a tie if I get it right, not $1 more. Has some advantage also that some people bet weird amounts assuming you are betting 1 more, and when you get it wrong you can have some accidental victory?

I dunno not really a big deal, but I don't see the point in wagering the extra dollar a good % of the time. Probably if you beat the person in regular jeopardy and you aren't the biggest genius of all time, you'd more often want to face them again than a random person? Feel like the off chance that someone bases their bet on you wagering the extra dollar and gives you some extra EV is worth it also.

Forgive me if the rules have changed recently and ties don't mean the same thing that they used to, haven't watched the show in forever.

they are told not to play for the draw. it's not a big deal if they ignore this, but most don't.
