Doesn't really matter what she does. If FJ is a triple get and she loses because she didn't bet to cover, people are hating on her for that. If FJ is a triple stumper and she loses because she bet to cover, people are also hating.

FJ on the first game was so easy that everyone had written it down within seconds or as Ken put it, before the music even started. Is she supposed to use meta game on the producers to figure out that they have a way more difficult FJ in store for the second game?

Whenever players don't bet to cover from the lead they get ridicule. Now they also get ridicule when they do bet to cover. So obviously there's no correct way unless you win the game.

If there's a single thing to take away from that tournament for me, it's that even if you totally dominate the competition like James did (won 9 out of 10 regular games) there's still a chance you get crushed in a single game. Mattea beat him 17400 to 10600 Coryat in that last game.

I'm pretty sure that James translated it. TH White wrote The Once and Future King

Leader at 21k going into FJ, 2nd place at 107xx.

He naturally bets 37xx because betting a cool number is more important than a chance to win.

Today on “Championship Teams”
They show a photo of Gretzky and Messier… and simply say “The teammates seen here”

Not like “The team these two won with” or “The team of the teammates seen here” etc

He answers Gretzky and Messier, wrong we needed the team

That’s sh-t writing

I like it’s pretty straightforward that when the category is Teams, the correct response will be a team.

J-archive says one woman answered the Lakers lol

I didn't get the end-of-DJ/FJ playing at all. IIRC, 2nd misses a $2k clue to put hime far enough behind that 1st has a lock if he just doesn't answer at all.

Goes ahead and gets it wrong, and game ends with a situation where there could be a tie if he bets 0 or misses, and 2nd doubles up.

Second doesn't shove, bets some random amount.

What did I miss?

Terrible writing.

What are Oilers' teammates?

What a poorly written clue.

I looked it up on J-Archive, the clue was actually "In 1985, the teammates seen here". Since the category is titled "THE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM", it should be pretty obvious that they're going for the name of the team?

Based on category it's Oilers, based on the clue it's Gretzky/Messier.

If they wanted to show the pic of those guys, with that category, and give some additional info, the clue should've simply been 'In 1985'

In a case like this, I'd just have to assume the contestants were briefed on a specific type of response being required for the category, just not on air for whatever reason. I know I've seen cases where after a wrongly formatted (or otherwise seemingly correct) answer, Alex/Ken would say "sorry, don't forget we needed blah blah", implying they were told at one point, even though they didn't say it on air when announcing the categories.

I do forgive people for not being able to do math well enough in real time to figure out whether they should or shouldn't buzz in for the last regular clue, etc. Maybe with an exception if it's painfully obvious (like 20000 vs 9500 or something).

For FJ though, that person deserves to be shamed forever.

Wednesday’s show must’ve had a record setting amount of zero buzz-ins.
I think at one point like 6 questions went by without anyone attempting to answer

Felt like 30% went unanswered

Apparently this game holds the record for most triple stumpers and lowest combined Coryat:
https://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=163

If I counted the J-Archive numbers correctly there were 11 correct answers in DJ on Wednesday.

Last night, DJ, Category is *Around the World*. Guy on the end hits the DD, bets the max

"In 1898 the Rough Riders charged up Kettle Hill 1 as well as this more famous one in Cuba"

He doesn't know, then with time running out blurts out "What is Bunker Hill?"

How does the old saying go? "Better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt."

Wikipedia lists 28 different locations called "Bunker('s) Hill" in 3 different countries. Seems better to me than not answering at all?

How many of those 28 are known to have been the site of famous battles (and yes, I am aware that "The Battle of Bunker Hill" in the American revolution was fought on Breed's Hill)

The contestant is from the US. Sorry, placing Bunker Hill in Cuba is LOL bad. Every US student learns of that battle. It's literally Jr. High school knowledge.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be bad for him not to know about the Battle of Bunker Hill in the US.

What I'm saying is that the sheer number of Bunker Hills makes it possible that there has been another Bunker Hill Battle at a different location.

It's not like he said Hamburger Hill or Mount Everest.

The trick is to say it quickly with a sufficiently disgusted/apologetic head shake and shrug, to signal that you're "just saying something".

I guess, but in my case I'd rather just shrug and answer "who are 3 people who've never been in my kitchen"
