Did they announce that? I would be highly surprised to hear that.

Call Me Kat is on the Fox fall lineup, slated to start airing 09/29. It's hard to imagine Mayim is going to shoot a full season of that followed by Jeopardy! episodes for 7 months while doing the 1 million other things she does on the side. My initial guess was that Ken does the rest of the year, then Mayim takes over for a couple of months and then back to Ken and potentially back again to Mayim in the end.

I actually didn't actually read the news myself, a friend that's a fellow Jeopardy head texted it to me, so I googled the article and it said:

Quote:
Jennings will host from September until December, a run that includes the inaugural Second Chance competition and the Tournament of Champions.

Bialik will take over in January by hosting Celebrity Jeopardy! and the Jeopardy! National College Championship. Her hosting duties will be balanced with her acting duties on the FOX show Call Me Kat, Davies said.
So I guess that doesn't necessarily mean it's only her for all those months, but I do take it to mean it'll be mostly her. I guess we'll have to see.

She has a contract to host all prime time specials. So she would do those anyway.

But the assumption is that she's also going to host regular games in January. If she did January to the end of the season, that would be 2/3 of the season though. I'd be pretty surprised if she did significantly more than 50% of regular games. If anything I would have thought Ken would get the bulk of regular games.

Many of the guest hosts were better than Miyam. Ken, Buzzy, Mike Richards and the CNBC guy come to mind.

Format for the ToC is out, airing from 10/31.

They start with 21 players. 18 of them play in winner-take-all quarterfinals for 6 of the 9 semifinal spots, the other 3 (Matt, Amy, Mattea) get a bye. The 3 finalists play in a "first to 3 wins" format, so we'll see 3 to 7 final games.

I'm cool with this so long as we don't get spoiled accidentally by some syndicate station saying when the ToC episodes end.

Since there are no wild cards, and no difference between 2nd and 3rd place, how does this change wagering strategy, particularly from 2nd?

Actually makes it easier. No different than a typical semifinal game. And in the majority of situations the wagering would be no different.

I would look at it the other way round. Wild Cards in tournaments are the only time where the game isn't winner take all and therefore ToC contestants had to prepare for that. Without that, it's basically the same as a regular game. Minus trying to maximize your winnings.

And less than two weeks for the return of Celebrity Jeopardy. Hate that they're going against SNF though.

I’d tune in if they have someone impersonate Sean Connery and have him give tonnes of crap to Ken Jennings.

The scratch paper for April’s wager. Math and copying numbers is hard. Frustrating to see but to her credit she was very open about it on Reddit.

What of Luigi’s late DD wager? Seemed altogether one of the least optimal ones he could make, no?

For that clue you needed to know where Demaryius Thomas played unless you’re aware of Manning’s 7 TD game or what specific season Wes Welker went from New England to Denver. Since she knew about Cam Newton, I would give her the benefit of the doubt that she also knew Wes Welker was Tom Brady’s #1 target for many years. So that’s not a bad guess at all.

Re Luigi’s last DD, he might have miscalculated the wager?

There was a picture of Peyton that she didn't look at before answering.

Looks like I was wrong on that one too. He horribly messed up on the final DD today in a spot where it's pretty inexcusable.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Unnecessarily risked qualifying for the TOC.

Celebrity Jeopardy! will air in prime time, which means it's Mayim, not Ken.

Pretty awesome wagering today on DD3 as well as FJ. Amazing wagering ignorance.
