I haven't watched every episode, but I don't think I've seen a single person take the extra money risk in HU. Or less money either now that I think about it. So, in reality, that whole offer/decision is just a huge time waste.

Last week somebody went for the bigger offer.

Generally speaking you're totally right though. One of the most likely reasons for that is players being bad at strategy. Especially if you're the third player there are plenty of possible spots where you should go for the low or the high offer.

Did it pay off or did they get knocked out?

He lost even though he seemed to be a pretty strong player based on his cash builder.

Another bookmarked post for when somebody thinks something other than $0 or $1 is a valid wager from the lead in a lock tie scenario.

Interesting how much coverage Jeopardy gets now...I have always followed the Jeopardy Fan on twitter and he clued me in. Entertainment Weekly wrote an article about how Robert from Monday's game made an "incorrect" wager and lost by $2, that somehow, despite many comments calling the writer a moron, still remains up on their site.

Yahoo has an article claiming last night's game featured 2 "strange" wagers. Obviously $10k not shoving is ridiculous, but leader betting $1 is completely standard now with no ties. Especially when second place makes so many mistakes in that spot.

I guess these companies have discovered that people will click on Jeopardy articles, but man, these idiots need to at least do 5 minutes of research or ask someone who watches the show before embarrassing themselves.

Interesting decision by the leader going into FJ to cover against third place..

A rare scenario where leader in FJ gets it right but doesn't win game, I guess locking up 2nd place money was more important than going for the win ,

Looks like the current hosting format will continue. Since it's mentioned that Mayim will be even busier with "Call me Kat", maybe Ken will host more regular games than this season?

Gwen Stefani was almost as ridiculous. Both close to the point where it might be better to just not provide an answer at all.

While Ken doesn't have that slick host feel (neither of them do really), he's so much better with quick little side comments/jokes relating to the answers etc. I wasn't sold on him early on, but at this point I really enjoy seeing him over Mayim.

Scores going into final:
8200
14700
17600

Leader bets 11800 because he desperately wants to play a tie breaker question.

Season 38 ended in style with another couple of horrible FJ wagers:
11000 bets 2994
11800 bets 9001
20800 bets 2601

I assume 20800 tried to do the right thing but wasn't good enough at 5th grade math to get the job done.
11000 probably decided he really didn't want to have to do another long trip from his home Long Beach, CA to the studio to return as defending champion next season.
11800 might have thought that she's the only player allowed to add money in FJ so getting over 20800 would be enough to win no matter what 11000 and 20800 do.

Yes, truly abysmal wagers, particularly by 11000. At least the other two had the right intention.

Despite getting 11k, he just seemed to look overwhelmed from start to finish, especially when he answered incorrectly.

Taping in front of a live audience is already underway. The first episode airs on September 12th.

Ken is going to host until the end of the year with Mayim taking over in January. Also, according to people who've attended a taping, Ken is being introduced as "the host of Jeopardy!"; the same way as Mayim has been since last season.

I'm glad Ken gets to host the ToC but Mayim from January until July of next year is going to be painful.
