tbh, my favorite so far is Aaron Rodgers*. Completely different delivery than people trying to sound like a game show host.

Even his brag was subtle, mentioning how astronaut Mark Kelly "finished 2nd on celebrity Jeopardy!" and leaving it at that.

*I'm still on Team LeVar Burton. But there's a wager involved, so of course.

We had my wife's grandparents stay with us last week. First episode we watched together they told me how much they and their friends loved Buzzy.

To my surprise they didn't like Ken, I thought he was a hit with the older crowd.
Not to my surprise they think the job should definitely go to a guy because women generally do bad with hosting shows. I didn't tell them that Savannah Guthrie was up next, not even sure if they know her though. NBC news is probably not their cup of tea.

Did I see correctly that the last 5 guest hosts (after Sanjay Gupta) each get one week only?

Scores going into final:
Emily: 10800
Trenton: 6800
Elaine: 16200

So Trenton obviously bets 3201 to make sure he doesn’t accidentally win on a W/W/R.

10,000 is a nice round number and he can beat any score of 10,000. That there is some second

On today's show, after Michael rebounds a Jessica $2000 miss on the fourth last clue, the less-than-one-minute warning sound plays. Scores at that point:

Michael: 14000
Jessica: 3200
Emily: 4200

3 clues left on the board, $400, $1600, $2000 and there's a good chance they won't be able to play all three. If DJ is over after two of the three clues, Michael has a lock unless he does something stupid like an incorrect answer or picking a clue that's not the $400 one. Well..

After Emily answers the $1600 clue, she picks the $2000 but doesn't ring in even though in that situation a random guess is better than not answering at all. Especially since the only negative outcome of answering incorrectly is the unlikely scenario of Jessica getting the rebound which means they switch positions before FJ.

Anybody watch the most recent episode of The Chase? One of the contestants identified herself as going for redemption since she was on Jeopardy! once, knew all the answers but couldn't figure out "the buzzer thing."

Spoiler:
Surprisingly, she and her teammates all kicked a$$, ran up a huge total and crushed James (who was noticeably off his game) in the final chase.

The difference between 2nd and 3rd is $1,000, you expect her to piss that away?

Lol, I even thought about that and how likely it was for Jessica to overtake her. I concluded that the likelihood of her answering wrong and Jessica ringing in and getting it right was probably below 15%.

For a lot of contestants that number might even be under 10% but Jessica was pretty active on the buzzer and not afraid to provide her best guess. I looked it up, she rang in on 22 of 54 possible clues. That's over 40%.

Dude won tonight after a horrible strategery game.

In DJ he had 7500, champ had about 14,000, he bets 5,000 on a DD in the latter half of the board. If he misses he is done anyway, might as well shove.

Then he is down 14,000 to 19,200 and wagers 5,205 which would drop
Him below 1st’s cover bet miss.

But of course there is little karma on J! And he solo binks FJ ftw.

The Chase tonight… After passing on like 2 previous questions
“How many months end in the letter Y” and the girl passes again.

You can’t pass on a 1/12 shot

Final today was “what year did so and so suddenly become king of Austria”
And the dude in 2nd couldn’t piece together that it was WWI and guessed the year 1500…
Not great, Bob

The question was when he became next in line for the throne. He didn't get to the throne until 1916 as king of Hungary (and emperor of Austria)

The 1500 guess wasn't that bad, that year Charles I of Spain was born who later became archduke of Austria in the Holy Roman Empire.

Most again a crappy final jeopardy clue. They could have easily prevented confusion by using the name Karl I / Karl IV (or Charles I / IV).

Is Courtney the worst five day winner ever? She’s been behind going into Final Jeopardy 3 times and tonight she was in third and they all missed it. Pretty easy question too.

I don’t think there’s a way to measure who the worst 5-day champion is and there might also be a 6-day+ champion who is a weaker player.

The only objective way to distinguish 5-day winners from each other would be average daily winnings. I don’t think $80k total = $16k avg is close to the bottom? I remember a couple years ago the internet mocked a guy who was around $50k total after 5 games.

There’s at least 9 5-time winners in the post doubling era with less winnings.

But this forum should ask itself, why has she won 5 games? And the answer is, she actually has a clue how to properly wager in FJ. We should all know that wagering prowess can make up for a lot of trivial shortcomings.

That $1400 FJ wager yesterday was actually pretty terrible. There’s absolutely nothing that wager accomplishes that $1601 or $2601 doesn’t. There are probably other wagers that might be even better than that, $3400 for example, but for that we need to make a couple assumptions.

What do people think of Dr. Gupta so far?

To me, he's been right down the middle. Nothing great, noting bad. Just another host.
