I really enjoyed the last scene and it was the first time in forever i watched a Mother ep and wanted to watch the next one straight away.

It's called a "cliffhanger," something shows do at the end of a season to keep you interested and eagerly awaiting the next season. Pretty standard!

Well it's subjective -- for me, it wasn't much of a cliffhanger because I didn't immediately want to see the next ep. In fact it just confirmed that they dicked us around.

As Sepinwall wrote, the "and kids, that's how I met your mother... PSYCH!" joke was spectacularly obnoxious. Plus the red herring of Punchy's wedding.... ugh.

Is it possible Barney wasn't even the groom? It's not like Ted said "I heard YOU needed me." He said "I heard the groom needed me". So maybe Barney just happened to be in there and wanted advice on the tie...

Yes this is stupid but it seems like something these writers would do, and this show has gotten so bad they can't take away Barney as well. I'm already close enough to quitting!

A year ago I would have called this theory ridiculous, but after what we've seen the show do this season, I wouldn't put it past them. No idea is too ******ed for HIMYM.

Definitely at least a 5% chance it's not Barney getting married, anyone disagreeing hasn't watched this show (or tv in general) imo.

I think this might have been the most consistently bad HIMYM episode to date. Not the "worst", but pretty much every aspect of the plot, the jokes, how the characters acted, etc, just felt very consistently weak to me. The fake "that's how I met your mother" line was particularly awful.

The worst thing about this season was reading that interview with the creators at the beginning, where they said how important this season was and the "big story arcs" and whatever else crap they spewed. If it hadn't been for that, I'm not sure I would have considered it worse than season 5, for instance. FU writers.

Was Robin looking sad when Barney and Nora ran into each other? Like, pangs of regret or something? I wasn't sure what was going on there.

Yeah she was. The final line was something like "and here I thought it was too late for summer dresses" and Nora responds "it's never too late", and then Robin realizes it might not be too late for Barney and her to work, and blah blah etc crap

The cliffhanger, as PJ calls it, is that Barney is the guy getting married; but wait...to who?

The "this is how i met your mother, psych" was very much a thumb to the eye, but tbh i thought the ep was alright by its currently low standards. I can easily see myself dropping the show if it doesnt come back with a bang, which sucks, cos the early seasons were great.

The funniest thing about this episode was how bad the Arcadian explosion looked.

That was the only funny thing.

After the amazing first 4 seasons I can't believe I'm going to have to stop watching the piece of crap this turned into

The psych could have been funny is the show didn't suck but when the show sucked so bad this year its just salt in the wound.

I think a good lol would be to go back and read the creators interviews from last summer about how they realize s5 was lacking but were going to bounce back big time with s6. I expect to hear the same this summer.

This is easily the worst show currently on tv that I watch every week. I can def see quitting a few eps into next year.

out of absolute sheer boredom I was thinking about rewatching a season of this show. What's the best one? 1 & 2 was robin & ted right, was that better than 3/4?

Season 2 is the best. Ted is with Robin which tones down the douchiness.

I'm still watching and plan on watching next year. Show is hit or miss, but it still has more good then bad.

In my opinion How I Met Your Mother is basically Friends 2.0 . They have essentially the same themes and have similar plot. Friends was slightly more serious in some aspects. But I find both shows to be similar. Obviously, Friends was way more successful like super more successful. I don't know I just feel like How I Met Your Mother is Friends for a new generation of viewers.

I could see How I Met Your Mother having a game changing seventh season and the cast being given heavy raises to secure future seasons. Look for next season of How I Met Your Mother to be the best yet.

By the last few seasons to make writing the show challenging they would hide the dice around the office just to make it sporting and justify their salaries.

Joeys other two jokes were "sleeping with women" which had the sub coin toss of "does he meet a woman, how you doin'?" or "will he talk about sleeping with women" and "food".
