Oh wow it starts tonight. I had not realised, let's hope they raise the standard from last season but to be honest I'm on the hook now ( ) so I'll be watching regardless.

How I Met Your Mother - Premiere Sneak Peek

I swear last weeks' was the first of the new season... unless I missed the finale (the Doppleganger one)..

I really hope it gets back to the quality of the first few seasons. It was so great then went to **** recently. Here's hoping.

You missed the series 5 finale first time round, titled Dopplegangers.

according to wiki, the show will be back to the way it was in seasons 1 & 2 and we should see the show moving along. i read somewhere that there are 3 "chapters" to the overall story and this is the start of chapter 3 so it looks like 1-2 more seasons after this one.

I stopped watching the show a couple seasons ago it just started getting stale.

I am interested in knowing how it ends though

Awesome. Hopefully this season get it back on tract to what it was before hand.

Read some reviews of the premier that said its a good start to the season. Also read an interview with the head writers that said they will get back to the actual point of the show and will stop with the sitcom feel that was prevalent last season.

Good episode. Didn't care for the Marshall/Lilly story but the Ted story was very well done (even if it was somewhat predictable). Amazing that they made more progress in the last 30 seconds of that episode than they made in the last 2 seasons combined. It seemed to heavily hint that Barney gets married before Ted does (which is a neat little twist in itself). At the very least, we should know exactly when the reveal is coming (whenever they have a wedding episode, which seems like something you would know in advance of the episode).

Further on that: did anyone else get the idea that they may be moving Barney back towards Robin? The whole thing with him fawning over the sundress seemed to hint at it. It would also make a ton of sense for the series finale to be Barney and Robin getting married, and Ted meeting his wife as he leaves the church. They could fade to black with Ted meeting the girl with the yellow umbrella. They could use that as a series finale or as a cliffhanger ending to this season.

mkind, I think you're pretty spot on and I completely agree re: the storyline.

I really like it, hopefully this episode is a sign of things to come.

I am so glad this show is back on again. I just love the characters and despite it being a comedy and exaggerating, I think it really has a great deal of trueness to it that I can relate to (only some parts, of course ).

Cool first episode, looking forward to the next!

Other than Marshall/Lilly baby/pregnancy humour which, predictably, was bad.

That was actually really good.

I think Robin/Barney is too obvious for them to be the couple getting married. Seems way more likely they are setting up a swerve for that.

Bear in mind the mother has to be at the wedding and while they have been 6 degreeing for the entire show it doesnt make sense why some random economics student would be at the wedding of a journalist and a business exec.

Also note they specifically filmed that wedding scene so they dont show whether it is Ted or Marshall that is the best man - when Lily calls out "best man" they both look. Its also odd that she would call out for the best man and not one of them by name so that seems intentional. While we dont really know any friends Ted has outside of the group Marshall is pretty friendly with lots of people at work and maybe he becomes better friends with someone as the series goes on - so we see Robin and Barney hook up again, they progress along and imply it is their marriage but it turns out to be Marshall's friend who somehow knows the mother?

Anyway, great to see the show going places.

Wasn't Ted nervous about his toast? I thought it was clear he was the best man.
